For some reason Baton Rouge does not have a lot of boudin places
Baton Rouge doesn't have a lot of Cajuns. While there are a few, BR is mostly transplants from elsewhere or people who share more common cultural ties with those from Mississippi than Acadiana.

Kinda surprised at the disdain towards Jerry Lees in this thread.
To me it's the texture and the lack of spice. I'll eat it if it's there, but far from my favorite.

I enjoy Bergeron's smoked boudin. All of the smoked foods I've had there are good. I love the smoked wings.
I haven't had boudin from any of the others around BR which have been mentioned.

My favorite is the smoked from Bergeron's. Ronnie's, Jerry Lee's, and the new place in Watson are all decent though
As far as HH cheese there's a place in Cottonport called T-Jim's that makes Jerry Lee's taste like dog shite. Bourgeois in Thibodaux does a jalapeño-cheese version that is great as well

I've been to t-Jim's a LOT growing up and agree.

Tony's Seafood. I like their cajun boudin grilled over charcoal.

I hope their recipe has changed since I bought it four or five years ago. It wasn't good then.

While non as good as Best Stop or Billy's, Baton Rouge has several solid options:
In BR proper is Ronnie's
Ronnies is supposedly the same recipe as Best Stop and has placed the last two years in the Lafayette Boudin cook off.
I'd rank it right up there with most of the best, except Nunu's IMO

Just a personal preference. I like Ronnie's a lot, better than Poche's, for sure. But Billy's in Krotz Springs is like crack to me.

Last time I got poches, which was some time back, it was overly greasy and too salty. Surely not how I remember it years ago.

Last time I grabbed some Beargerons it was a huge let down. Been years since I'd had any from there. The boudin tasted super watery. Got some head cheese. Same thing. It had big chunks of veggies in it. The smoked sausage was good though.
Jerry Lees is ok. Nothing great.
Think Ronnies is easily the best in BR

Ronnie's and Chris' are 1a and 1b in BR IMHO. I'm not a fan of Jerry Lee's at all; too much liver and not much spice.
The boudin across the river is just bad. Bergeron's is bland. Benoit's is 75% mushy rice. Benoit's does have amazing chicken sausage and he does a great job with everything smoked: turkey, sausage, etc.
I drive to Krotz Springs every couple of months to get boudin from Billy's and boudin balls(jalapeno cream-cheese) and freeze it.

Had T-Jim's for the first time at the Boudin cook-off/festival in downtown Lafayette last year. Was my favorite of all the ones there.
In BR area, my go to is Benoit's in Addis.
Love a lot of Bergeron's stuff, but not their boudin.

Co-worker of mine asked Jerry Lee last year about the ratio of pork meat to liver in his recipe, and Jerry claimed to not use any liver......

Jerry lees is very good if you enjoy a milder boudin with a lot of green onion. I like it a lot and their hog head cheese is phenomenal.

I'm surprised to see some people knocking Jerry Lee's. I think it is very tasty link, a higher rice ratio, but well-seasoned with good texture/moisture.
I recently did a boudin tasting with family members that involved T-Boy's, Billy's, Kartchner's, and Jerry Lee's. While Jerry Lee's finished last overall, we agreed that it faired well among the others. I think a couple people had it ranked 2nd or 3rd.

Ronnies for sure. I'm from Lafayette originally and Ronnie's is legit. Reminds me of home. Jerry Lee's is meh.

I'm the opposite when it comes to Jerry Lee's. I find the spice lacking, and the texture to be totally different from Lafayette style links.

2 links and a dr pepper from Ronnie's, eat em under the pine trees down the street in the abandoned parking lot. Go across the street and get a fritter from donut shop, finish dr pepper and get your arse back to work.
