"Ride share", taxi, all the same in my opinion. Your paying someone else to drive you as round.

Protected and served citizens from that uber driver.. and extracted money out of him, as well.

I'm probably in the heavy minority as someone against Uber who has absolutely no stake in the taxi industry. Using the "rideshare" loophole is bullshite, rideshare should only be applicable to cases where the driver is ending at the same destination. The taxi industry needs to make significant improvements, but eventually forcing taxis out of business and totally deregulating this type of service is a dangerous road to go down.

Uber is stupid if they don't hire a lawyer for this guy. That and the cop is a bitch who willingly is acting as a shill for the local government.

According to über, their insurance policy covers everything while the "ride share" takes place.

Said local government does pay her salary FWIW.

Uber's insurance covers from the time a ride is accepted by the driver until the time the driver drops the person off. It does not cover anytime the driver is waiting to accept a fare.
From what they told me, it's a million plus policy. While each driver is required to have normal insurance coverage, anything that your personal insurance won't cover, Uber will.
I stopped driving often for them for this specific reason. I didn't want to go through the hassle of filing a claim with both parties if I got in a wreck. Also, I didn't want my personal insurance to skyrocket or be canceled later on because of a rideshare use.
Honestly, when they first came to BR, the money was good with the promotional payments they would give drivers. Now it is not really worth my time and sanity to drive across town to pick someone up for a measly $8.

Why is Uber operating in a town where it is illigal. Seem stupid on their part? I would get full buy in from the Knsville city council before setting up the Uber network in that area.
