Recommend a smoker setup for me

Looking to start doing smoking at the house and have no idea what I'm looking for. I don't need anything huge or expensive, just something I can do ribs, chicken, pork butt. What is a good intro setup that will give me desired results? TIA

I got this one in September. I've done ribs, chicken, pork, turkey, sausage, etc. I love it. I had to do a few modifications like replacing the cheap pan with a cast iron skillet and I added a seal around the doors to retain more smoke. The add ons cost me about $30. The results have been excellent.

depends on what you want to spend...
$400 will get you the weber smokey mountain 22" and that thing is supposed to be as good as it gets for the price range.
Less money could get you a ugly drum smoker set up. which are supposed to be pretty good.
I'm personally ordering The Good One Open Range. Its a tad more expensive, but I like what it has to offer.

I've smoked all three of those on a basic weber. Look up the snake method, it works. Only thing I don't think I could manage is a whole packer brisket.

I'd prlly start with just a simple 3 oz water bong or possibly a nice hookah or something.

If you want stupid easy with great results, Pit barrel Cooker is the way to go. Pretty much no thought involved at all, so even I can make good stuff with it.
ETA: Cost is like $300 shipped.

Start with a WSM 22 as others have mentioned.

And I think we may have gotten my pawpaws old one when he passed. Not sure what condition its in, but I'll check it out.

WSM is easily the most popular with a ton of forums with support. Its a good starter smoker. If you are not in a rush there are occasionally Badass smokers on craigslist in that range. I prefer a heavy gauge offset, but the good ones are not cheap.

Ditto for me. I bought a Masterbuilt propane box smoker from Lowe's for $160. I love it.

Get a WSM and a Maverick thermoter and don't look back

Ditto on the masterbuilt. But the bottom rusted out after 2 1/2 years. Bought another one at Lowes. All clean and good to go now.

Masterbuilt with the glass door option, remote control, and meat probe.

I'm a big fan of the WSM 18.5" ($299). If you are not cooking for a big crowd, it's plenty.
I've smoked a whole packer brisket in it many times, and I've smoked 4 pork butts at once. One ding is that you can't lay flat more than one uncut rack of ribs per grate (2 grates inside), so you have to cut or roll the ribs to put more than 2 racks inside. It only affects their appearance.
My neighbor has the 22.5. It's nice but takes way more charcoal to keep it running, and it is freaking huge.
Consider the amounts you will be cooking and space available.
