No. But I know someone who has. I can't really talk about it.

Who's asking?! Eh?! Irregardless, I think it would be wise if you abstain from this area. Capisce?

I knew a few Italians growing up and when the Godfather came out they all acted like Don Vito was their own Godfather. The stories I would here about we're pretty laughable.

A person I work with tells everyone her dad or grandad is in the mafia. In reality, he's just a redneck that's doing a long bid.

Scruffy has a good family friend who apparently babysat for a mafioso decades ago when she was in high school living in Chicago.
She said she didn't find out until they raided the house and she read about it in the paper.
That's the only time Scruffy ever heard anyone talk about that stuff.

I used to know some people that did this.
It didn't end well for them.

I'm thinking about starting a Houston mafia. You interested?

I haven't ever known anyone who pretended, but did know of someone from back home who was actually allegedly "connected." ... He was the president of one of the local banks in which he had a relative managing day-to-day operations since he & his family had relocated to another state. The story was, he & his relative had some sort of disagreement about "business issues" pertaining to said bank, & shortly thereafter, the relative/manager was found dead in said bank, with 4 gunshot wounds to the chest, & was promptly ruled a "suicide" by the authorities. Case closed.

No, but I do know a guy who pretends to be in a 1%er MC in order to impress people on the Internet.

Back 2012, I ran a pretty large outfit of mobsters on Facebook's mafia wars...

No such thing.
You watch too much TV.

Anyone who will tell you they are in the mafia is full of shite. The code of Omertà is highly valued in La Cosa Nostra and the entire idea of keeping a low profile is compromised if you go around telling people you're connected.
Anyone who does that is either lying or about to get 2 in the back of the head with the quickness.
