Amazing how doing grunt work work with some broken down middle aged guys helped me focus on my last few semesters.

When I first got out on my own my father told me
Don't stay in a job where they only need you 40 hours a week its a dead end.
He was right.

My dad's saying is, "Always go the extra mile."
I learned early that the best way to impress a teacher/boss/etc. is to take the extra step and take care of something before having to be asked. Leads to great things like raises and promotions.

Grandpaw: Give 'em Hell
A plumber I worked for in high school: You only need to remember two things to be successful at this job; shite always flows downhill and payday's on Friday.
My college coach (in front of the team): Bear Bryant said that football's a game where men beat the hell outta each other for nearly 60 minutes waging all out war, only to have the outcome determined by a skinny-legged kicker. I happened to play that position.

My mom told me when I was about 12, that one day, I'd have a kid as bad as me. I'm now 34, and no kids yet....

Old rich guy I used to work for told me: "You never learn anything when you are talking."

If you want to get ahead, work harder on yourself than you do on your job.

My grandpa, never met him, used to say this all the time and passed it on to my mom. Use it all the time.

My dad used to say something to the effect of "get an education so you don't have to bust your arse outside like I used to".
I listened and it's working out pretty well.
