You need to come north a watch how the pros do it.

I'll eat 7-10, a lot of chicks won't even have 2 pounds.
just depends on your friends, really.

I'm losing my mojo in middle age. 6 or 7 pounds is where I'm quitting these days.

I eat 5-6 lbs IF I eat nothing else at all before I have the crawfish. No corn, potatoes...nothing. I'd rather have the crawfish.

what??
oteese puts onions, garlic, oysters, andouille, mushrooms, pineapple, an old shoe..how can you not enjoy some of the accrotemints with your bugs?

I add the tonage of the corn, potatoes, sausage, etc in the weight per person.
Example: 20 people = 5 lbs sausage, 5 lbs potatoes, 5 lbs corn, 1-40 lb sack of crawfish (expecting up to 8-10% being dead) = 5 lbs of food poured out of the pot onto the table for each person

Dont feel like starting a new thread, but I had Sammy's crawfish the other day and they were horrible.
Tasted like they cooked them 15 minutes too long, dumped them in an ice chest with Kige size of butter and left them there for 2 hours. All after not cleaning them well. I didnt expect award winning crawfish but those were just sad.

that's ridiculous. if you want all the bullshite, eat something else. it's a crawfish boil. pineapple? GTFO

The pineapple is very good for those who want it...and they'll leave more crawfish for those who want them. TH, you need to think about your position a little more...

You try it?
I ain't tried it. But I would. Could be good. I'm personally good for 4-6 lbs depending on the day, but mostly I just get tired of peeling.

10 lbs? I can't recall seeing anybody eat 10 lbs at a social crawfish boil. If it's just a few friends, maybe so, but still...I'm handing you some corn and potatoes at some point.
You serious clark? I easily polish off that much if there is enough available. But yes, most guys probably eat closer to 5 lbs. That's why I estimate how much I think each guy will eat, because I know some guys well enough to know that they can put down 10lbs, and I want everyone to leave satisfied.

I'm just not a fan of throwing everything from the kitchen into the boil. it's excessive for me.

Lemon, links of sausage, red potatoes, some sweet potatoes cut in half, corn on the cob, pearl onions, cloves of garlic....
yall help me out here. What's normal and appropriate and what over board?

I promise you my 10 year old can eat at least 5-6 pounds and he peels them all himself. Crabs.... hes good for a half dozen at least and again he peels his own.
Ti answer the OP..... I'd go on 5lb per person and load up on the fixings.

I usually go:
lemon
corn
new potatoes
head of garlic
onion
once I'm done, I'll drop in some andouille then drain a can of green beans and let it sink to the bottom and soak for a bit. I don't put the sausage in with the bugs cause it makes them kinda greasy feeling.
that's as "fancy" as I get. throwing too much shite in there is just pointless and excessive IMO.

I love the accoutrements, but I like the crawfish better. There are generally plenty of sides leftover for later on. I haven't had pineapple, but I'd like to taste it. Sweet and salty and spicy sounds good to me if they're boiled after the crawfish are removed. I don't like all of that flavoring in my crawfish.

5 for everyone. whatever is left over, it's crawfish etouffee.

I don't get your point. There are always exceptions to the rule.
