California is the first state I'd live.
Yeah the politics are a detriment but it's the most beautiful state and pretty much has everything. You can surf and snow ski all in an afternoon! And the mountains around Napa would be my #1 place to live in the lower 48.

I agree with California but I disagree with the whole west coast comment. I'd move to Portland or Seattle in a heartbeat.

No. No it's not.

You wouldn't live anywhere in ca but would move to Seattle? That's uh... interesting.

Familiar states also appear among the lowest well-being states. For the sixth consecutive year, West Virginia and Kentucky have the lowest well-being in the United States, ranking 50th and 49th, respectively. Other states that have appeared in the bottom ten all seven years are Arkansas, Ohio and Mississippi.

How many ca residents do you know?
Many. I also deal with them on a regular basis for work purposes.

Seattle is pushing SF as the most liberal city in the USA. May have passed it.

I'll say this as so wine who moved to California 3 years ago and was VERY skeptical about the move. Really thought I would hate it here, had a similarly negative view of CA and the west coast.
But, this place is fricking awesome. Yes, the state has it's problems and is the poster child for a ton of failed liberal policies.
But there is so much to do. So much natural beauty. Hell if I want to this weekend, I can choose between hiking in the moutains, hiking in the desert, going to the beach or snow skiing. And I can do all of that in less than 2 hours from my front door.
So trust me, for all of its problems CA is NOT a bad place to live.
Now to answer your question: New Mexico is the last state id live in. Desolate hellhole.

I'd rather live in every country in central or South America than Alaska. That graph means shite, but should have known you and Nurse would come at this thread like flies on shite.

Alaska
I don't even consider it a serious state. It is just an asset of the United States. Parts of Canada are more of state to me then Alaska.

Who pissed on your cigarette?
Ak. has an awesome standard of living. People generally live here because they choose to, not because of family. It's not for everyone, you probably wouldn't fit in well.

I was amazed at just how beautiful CA is and the wide variety of scenery, some of which is just breathtaking. My husband's company has an office in CA....if he could get a transfer I would totally move to CA. Nurses make serious $$$$ out there as well. I wanna say CA pays nurses the best out of any state in the US.

Ohio.
There are very few places on this earth that I have no interest in, and Ohio is one of those few.

Ca. is pretty awesome. I can't imagine anyone seriously having it as their least favorite place to live.
