21. Kyle Schwarber
64. C.J. Edwards
92. Albert Almora
124. Duane Underwood
125. Pierce Johnson

ZiPS Top 100
MLB Pipeline Top 100
The Cubs are still kicking the tires on adding another starting pitcher. They are loaded to go after Cole Hamels, but the Phillies are asking for either Bryant or Russell and for that the Cubs better say "Go frick yourselves."
They are still showing some interest in 19 year old Cuban defector SS Yoan Moncada, who could net a $30MM signing bonus. The crux with that is Chicago can't offer more than $250,000 until July 2--when they are able to be in the mix for Moncada--due to penalties for overspending in their international signings. I highly, highly doubt the Cubs can sign Moncada given their limitations in what they can offer until July 2. However, Moncada is thought to be a high riser and could be a prominent force in MLB very soon. It's well worth their effort and due diligence.
Pitchers and catchers report in 2 days.

It's back...thank goodness.
Not much time left to deal wood and castillo.
Do we want to do a pick your bryant to the cubs day?
I'll take April 24th.

I'll be in Milwaukee for the Cubs @ Brewers Mother's Day Weekend series. That's May 10. He better be there.

I agree. I'm really surprised that the phillies aren't in it though. My suspicions that Amaro is clueless are becoming confirmed.

I'd be shocked if he wasn't. They'll wait just long enough to get that extra year, and then start him off on a weekend series on the road.

There's a difference between having the best farm system and currently having the best group of minor league players.

It looks weird to not include Baez and Alcantara in that list of prospects.
They are still prospects to me, dammit. Well, maybe not AA.

What happened to the original Sploosh thread? New year, new thread?
Posted on 2/17/15 at 11:22 am to TigerFanatic99
Some wise guys thought having a "season long" thread was frowned upon in this establishment. So we'll just talk about how awesome the Cubs prospects are right now in this thread. And see how it goes.
This is not intended to be a season long thread.
But I won't tell if you won't.

Very bitter feelings about appel/bryant led to discrimination against one fanbase.

How is Shwarber 21?
He was universally considered a reach in the draft. He beats up on rookie leagues like any developed college hitter should, and, voila, he's #21?

Maybe because he's a college-developed hitter that has beaten up on rookie leagues? Remember, Kris Bryant did the exact same thing as the exact same kind of hitter as Schwarber.
Plus, Schwarber is a catcher...and it's becoming more and more of a distinct possibility that he may stick there. With his college-developed bat beating up on rookie leagues sticking at catcher, his value can skyrocket.

I really don't know why the other clubs are fielding teams this season. We got this in the bag.

I wouldn't mind seeing 3-4 these guys turning into All-Star caliber players....
although reality is only 1 turns into that consistent all-star talent, while 2-4 turn into solid pro players, and rest bust.
Cubs are always a guilty pleasure and hope to one day cross wrigley off my stadium list.
