Is this a reference to antique farm equipment?

Went to D-ville once because they had a store (Super 10 I think) selling a DVD/VCR combo for $10. I have never seen so many African-American males riding bicycles as I did in Donaldsonville. The majority were the old beach cruiser style that Debo rode in Friday.

Just found out this is a friend of the family Tgat got shot. Sad.

He's going to be ok though. Crazy thing is the doctors told him the hole in his cheek will have to heal naturally.

Try driving LA 1 from Plaquemine to Thibodeaux after 10 at night and you will see that the same has occurred along Bayou LaFourche for the last 40 years. Anyone who could; has moved away or further out.

First of all, it's Thibodaux.

Secondly, the only community from Port Allen to Grand Isle along LA1 that is even remotely like D'ville is White Castle.

Donaldsonville really is a beautiful small city if you can look past the ghettos. I'm linking a thread from a while back on the history of Donaldsonville. It includes some pics from around the town and other cool facts.
The Ascension of our Lord Catholic Church is one of the most beautiful church's I've ever visited.

You can't be serious. White Castle is just a small version of D'ville & Napoleonville.

Sorry if you aren't familiar with the areas, but here I will name them for you: Plaquemine , the city limits and areas around are not nice and the population resembles Donaldsonville. Okay, then White Castle, they put the projects on Main st (Bowie), then Donaldsonville, some Parts of Belle Rose are okay some is not, Paincourtville has really gone down;same demographics. Then Dorseyville, Napoleonville (the town limits, 95%), then French Lane, between Supreme and Labadieville and now Labadieville itself, pretty sketchy. Then you get to Thib, most of old Thib/LA 1 and some areas around THS. Along that route there are places on 308 that are bad as well. So believe what you want, but all those areas the majority of the land is held for farming. Assumption especially has only 2 possibly three subdivisions built in that area in the last twenty years. Donaldsonville is worse case, because they were exploiting the Blacks for years, now the remaining people live with the results.

Dville died because of several reasons. Large blame is farmers unwilling to allow growth and section 8 housing. Was a good little town, now a joke. Recreation dept is a joke and corrupt. Money grab. Ascension Parish shelling money for no reason. Mayor kinfolk deal. Saddens me to see it go down so fast.

Kid shot other boy for his shoes. Shooter should have been in jail years ago for raping a kid.

I taught school there many years ago. That town is awful and does nothing but talk about each other. I once went out to eat lunch with one of my black coworkers and the two of us would be dead by the stares we got. The school where I taught was mostly black, and as a white professional, the whites were discriminated against. Black parents were allowed to enter our classrooms and curse us out before a class. The black principal I worked under was W.H. and the whiteAP was attacked by a student who was expelled. He was clubbed with a telephone.

You were spot on until this. Your conclusions suck. Previous exploitation has no bearing on the actions of current inhabitants. Their animalistic actions are of their own choosing. The "remaining people" aren't the ones getting shot.

That fact that you remotly try to compare Donaldsonville to Thibodaux is a joke.

And who cares who owns the land in these other areas? If there was money to be made in developing it, it would be developed. You don't really have people moving to these places so why do you expect vast residential development?

Below are some of the places along LA1 with white%/black%, population, and median family income.

Donaldsonville 29/69 7436 $29,408
White Castle 23/77 1946 $24,236
Thibodaux 64/33 14,567 $36,551
Labadieville 81/17 1854 $43,438
Napoleonville 29/59 680 $21,239
Pancourtville 55/54 884 $36,563
Plaquemine 49/49 7064 $32,971
Belle rose 39/59 1944 $35,865

So the only one close to d'ville in population is plaquemine which has even white/black pop.

Cherry picking certain streets or neighborhoods to prove your point is simply erroneous. You can find "bad areas" everywhere. But few whole communities on LA 1 can draw reasonable comparisons to Donaldsonville. Much less the whole damn route.
