I bluffed my employer into giving me a 30% pay increase on the basis of a fake offer for a new job from a buddy of mine. Sort of like how Les does every couple of years. It felt good though. They had no choice but to match.

The ballsiest move that I've done was taking a job in a new career path, about 3 years ago. At first there was a good amount of travel (first year probably gone 20 weeks), but the pay increase was roughly 40 percent, and I felt that it was worth it. I've since stayed on the same path and have been promoted twice, while not having to travel much at all.
Eventually, I may step outside of the box more and start my own business, but until then I'm happy where I'm at.

I once burned down an entire town, ransacked a massive mine, and then kept all the gold for myself without spending a cent of it.

I'm starting to feel like it is really easy to go through life without having to make any truly big difference making decisions that change the outcome of your life. I'm scared that I'm never going to do anything to switch things up, and I'm just going to live the same boring middle-class suburban 9 to 5 working life as everyone else around me. I feel like I've had such an easy life. I haven't really had to work very hard for anything and I've just accepted the path of my life so far because it is easy. I've just let life happen to me and haven't ever really taken control of my own destiny and made a power-move. I want to switch things up and do something "stupid" because I want to. What big, risky, possibly questionable decision have you made in your life because you knew you had to do it? Quit your job? Changed careers? Killed a man? Asked someone to marry you? Moved away? Turned down a job for a girl? Turned down a girl for a job? I want to hear some stories.
How old are you?
Because this all reads to me like a mid-life crisis....

I had a very stable job making decent money in BR and was offered something in Pensacola making more money and also the potential to make way more and gain ownership in a business. It was a cluster from the get go (was basically sold a bill of goods) and was lucky enough to get my old job back in BR. I am now making a very good salary. The moral of the story...grass isn't always greener on the other side.
That being said, my wife and I hope to move to North Alabama (or somewhere around there) and buy some land and a micro house in about 5-7 years. We are ready to get out of the rat race.
A final note, just because life is "easy" right now, just give it a few years....everyone deals with tough times at some point.

Put career in real estate on hold to work in ministry. Best decision I've ever made.

A fellow once insisted I take him for a drive one night as I left my office. At gunpoint.
While sitting in the driver's seat, my back seat passenger - a 16 years young African American gentlemen - had the cold, blued, barrel of the pistol pressed firmly against the back of my head, and he gave me the instruction to put my hands behind my head, as he was going to tie my hands up. I felt both of his hands on mine, and when I did, the Lord God Almighty gave me the mental wherewithal to realize that he couldn't be holding that pistol if I could feel both of his hands. I could feel his hot breath on my hands. It was cold that February 13th. With no thought - pure reaction - I thrust my hands back, apparently jabbing at least one of his eyes with my fingers, and bolted out of the Ford Expedition, running away in a zig zag pattern. I couldn't figure out why I wasn't being chased or shot at. I put about 75 yards between me and the young entrepreneur - as quickly as a not so fleet, 30 something white man in boots could muster - before I turned around to see him finally get out. Turns out, the child locks were on.

Changed careers from a cushy administrative job with little to no accountability to one that making one mistake could kill people and my career.
Is that a power move or stupidity?

Left my douchey friends that could never move past high school behind and started a new life in a new city. Best decision I've ever made

I quit USL and moved across the country when I was 20 to help open a Cajun restaurant in Oregon.
I've also fricked way to many questionable ladies with no rubber, and never came down with anything.
I'm married now thank goodness
