Flat course and very well organized. You run through downtown, German village and the arena district and finish at LC pavilion (at least it used to).

They finish at Columbus Commons now. And they run up past Ohio Stadium.

Marathoners tend to peak in their late 20's and early 30's. I ran a 1:45 half at age 31 but couldn't do that on skates downhill now thanks to a high ankle sprain, bad knees and lower back spasms. Getting old sucks

Nope. I ran a half on Tybee Island, Georgia in 9th and 11th grades. Ran 1:27:55 as a freshman. Was not very tough.

i'm going to run my first marathon next month, then go buy a 26.2 sticker so everyone can see how cool i am.

I might even get lazy and do a half marathon, so i can add the matching 13.1 sticker.

Ran the Marine Corps Marathon several years back ... just to check it off the list.

No running since ... and no desire to run a marathon or half marathon.

No stickers or facebook or any of that crap ... just wanted to do it while I was still relatively young, had time to train, etc.

I could barely run 1/10th of a marathon right now. I have a hard time beating my 9 year old in a one-lap track race.

Someone mentioned the Brooklyn Half. That one used to be in April, and was a perennial great race. Usually cool weather (starting time around 45 degrees), nice flat course except for park slope at the end, and always interesting fans along the way. It is a very diverse course... starting in coney island, then hitting all these different neighborhoods in brooklyn (one block will be some indie band playing on the corner during the race, 2 blocks later is a bunch of hasidic jews), and then finishes in park slope.

It is a great race and good excuse to see NYC.

I typically run a half marathon most weekends between April and September. I will run a marathon or two this year, just deciding on which one. I didn't get into Berlin, but am considering a few smaller ones in France (Medoc maybe).

not sure what is more annoying anymore

the people that run marathons that are sure to tell everyone, or the people that continually hate on someone actually running a marathon

Congrats on setting a goal. Getting to the goal is most of the fun. I just ran my first half-marathon yesterday at age 36; hit my time goal too. 1:58:50. I already signed up for the Houston Marathon 2016, and will be doing another half later in the spring and the Houston Half Relay in October to gear up for the whole.

Who talks about themselves more:
marathoners?
vegetarians?
People that rescued their dogs from the pound?

Crossfitters not included.

I hate running and started only to lose weight. After awhile it got boring so I entered 5Ks. When that got boring I did a couple of half marathons. That's really all the patience I have and have zero interest on a full. My nipples and feet could not handle another step past 13.1. Could not believe it when I looked down and saw blood streaks through my shirt afterwards. Lost a couple of toe nails too. frick that...

i've never had either. I use glide on the nipples, and I wear shoes that fit. Although the toenails may not be the shoes as much as your footstrike.

it happens

I always say that I'll never run another marathon right after I finish one, then a month later I start thinking when I'll run my next one
