in this current climate, it was a perfectly decent film, but i will take Whiplash all day, which had a budget $162 million dollars less than Interstellar. Some people were shocked it wasn't nominated for best pic. Had no business being there.

It was only excessively hyped in the movie dork world. In the real world it got only moderate discussion.

I thought it was a great movie. While it wasn't nominated for any of the major categories, it still received 5 Oscar nominations. Not bad for a movie that turned out to be nothing much at all.

It was my favorite movie of the year. Equally as cool as the first time I saw 2001 a Space Odyssey. It probably lost people when the black hole event happend but I really liked what Nolan did with it. Loved TARS and CASE the design and interaction of the robots with the cast was great.

This quote alone makes the movie not live up to the hype. Sorry.

Good movie, decent, but yeah the hype killed it. It's worth a watch, but not worth much thought.

Design was fantastic (i would likely vote for it for awards season), but it really was an average film

I'm assuming you're making this statement because it wasn't nominated today, but I feel like the movie overall did well. Was it the greatest thing ever? No. But the only reason it was ever hyped like that is because of the fanboys who now push expectations for anything Nolan does into the stratosphere.

Just because it wasn't a masterpiece or nominated for an Oscar doesn't meant it "turned out to be nothing." It never had a chance at an Oscar. (Although IMO it is vastly superior to at least two of the nominees.)

Say what? If anything Interstellar provided too much to think about in such a short time-frame.

I really feel like a lot of people are getting caught up in some of the nuances in the plot rather than what the movie was trying to say. For instance, 2001 seems to break every convention of filmmaking to where there seems to be a really aimless plot and no main characters really. 2001 is a film completely carried by the themes, shots, music, and tone. Interstellar does have a benefit in having 2 good characters in Cooper and Murph, but I still don't think the average movie goer and critic realizes what hit them with this movie. For instance, the main complaint I've found is the final act when Cooper's love for his daughter is what resolves it. I find that not only satisfying, but redeeming to us as a species, especially since it is the future of what humanity could potentially becomes that saves us in the end.

Watched it in IMAX twice and loved it. Sure, there's some bad dialogue and some plot holes I could agree with, but sitting there watching it all unfold was quite the experience. Totally got lost in the movie. The docking scene.

At this point, Interstellar is one of the best movies I have ever watched. I'm a huge space nerd though.

The movie was great and exactly what going to the theatre is all about.

It deserved more praise frankly.

Nolan should have been nominated for best original screenplay.
