Anybody know anybody that was affected? How about people working in other oilfield services and related companies? Seems like tough times for folks the O&G industry. Folks are saying cuts are turning out to be worse than the 2008 down turn.

Oil and gas workers weren't obligated to care when people were suffering with $4 gas. The people benefiting now aren't obligated to care that the oil and gas business is taking a hit.

Losing a job vs paying a few extra dollars for gas isn't quite the same.
Apples to oranges.
If saving $30 a month is that big of a deal then I feel sorry for you.

Every industry in history says "hi." Been there done that.

You rarely post intelligent things on this board

Energy costs affect the cost of everything else, so it's more than $30 a month. And people have lost their jobs when energy costs made their industries unprofitable. Again, the oil and gas sector wasn't obligated to care about that, nor is anyone else obligated to care about the oil and gas sector's hardship now. Free enterprise is all fun and games until your nose is the one getting punched by the Invisible Hand.

Well why don't we pay just a little bit more for absolutely everything, so that everyone can have jobs?

That part sucks for sure. But, the economy is consumer drive. More money to spend is a good thing for most of the country. It is going to hurt Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Alaska. I guess some of the Dakotas and West Virginia and Pennsylvania. But, the rest of the country will benefit. These are always cyclical things. It will swing the other way again.

Nabors layed off all non-essential employees
Weatherford layed off a couple thousand
Patterson bumped a bunch of people back
H&P is stacking 60 rigs
On and on and on
Most people in O&G in our working generation have never seen a "bust" (myself included)
This is a great wake up call to save money

Typical dickhead responses already I see. I'm in O&G and I've been laid off once already. It was a miserable time of my life that I hope no one else has to go through

Daily O&G thread
I know right? If I didn't know better it would seem like there is some jealousy and now they finally get to gloat because they're saving a few bucks in their gas tank and some O&G people are losing their jobs.
