Does this mean 247 writers or message board posters? Would be a great hire, I'm skeptical

He would make a great DC IMO; however, keep him away from the HC position. We do not need any of those high school shenanigans from the HC at LSU.

This is by far the best candidate we have seen thus far.

He won't be here long if hired.

Unless we perhaps have a HC in waiting.

Either way this would be a huge hire and way better than others being mentioned.

I wish we could hire him as DC, he stay for 2-3 years and then take over for Miles in 3-4 years. Also Ed O as DL coach for recruiting

I wonder if this is what Dandy Don website was talking about when he said that he wouldn't be surprised if the hire was someone we hadn't heard mentioned yet, but would like.

Well, add me to the "skeptical of the source of the rumor but would be elated if it came true" line.

Line is getting pretty damned long I think.

Isn't this the guy who's an enormous a-hole? Hence his getting run in Tampa.

Not going to get overly excited, but this would be a superior hire to Pendergast (which I strongly favored). Southern recruiting would be an issue, of course, but 5 years position coach in CFB (before going to the NFL), then 2 as DC at Miami (good enough to get him the job at Rutgers), then HC at Rutgers for 11 seasons - I refuse to believe he can't recruit - he'll just need Frank and others to introduce him to all the Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas HS coaches.

On the other hand, he was a very hot HC property a couple of years ago and is not yet 50. We can't wink-wink, nudge-nudge, to Frank Wilson, Cam Cameron AND Schiano that they might be the HC when Les retires, now, can we?

But, beyond a homerun hire - might be outkicking our coverage.

The problem will be money - we refused to bid for Chavis - Schiano made HC money at Rutgers and the NFL - while he might understand the economic realities of it, he might also balk at moving to Baton Rouge for $750k.

What exactly occurred last night? The poster's post? Or a supposed meeting?

If this is true, Les needs to drop the hammer now. Schiano could handle DC chores and coach LB's.
