When he last hired BDP...it was a done deal from the start. He brought in others, but he had hired him before, no doubt. The press had it right. Did not matter how much better the others were or how great the interviews, it was a done deal. He is a stubborn man. So...
I hope this is the case. Seems like every time I look up this past few days, there's been a defensive coaching change somewhere else that has valid candidates being hired. Ie Texas tech, Michigan, Miss State. Not saying those candidates are the ones we wanted first, but I hope action elsewhere means they didn't think they had a shot at lsu...

I read that La Tech lost their DC. Amazingly....Northwestern St did, too. Nothing said about Jay Thomas beating La Tech. They just keep tooting the horn of La Tech DC. Thomas was a GA at LSU, and is a terrific DC, plus DL Coach. He is from Baker where his Dad coached HS. Homeboy that is super. We look all over the country and we have one of the best right here in La. You can bet Miles will hire a friend.

I hear ya. I would think this decision having as much pressure on it as it does, the politics of this may be that whoever the hire is, has to have a solid top tier DC position in their resume? Look at the competition he would be up against. Ex USC coach, Penn State coach, Oklahoma, Alabama... Again, not saying I think Jay Thomas wouldn't do a good job, but he may not have the clout yet to be in this pond.

Jay Thomas is HC. Has been DC at several places. When he was HC at Nicholls his DC was Charley Kelly who is DC at Fl St and was at Ga Tech. I think he knows as much as any of the coaches that you could mention. Plus he is a great guy from La. That should count for something. We are not as BIG TIME as some of you think.
