I have a christmas party that says "dressy casual" on the invitation...anyone have any idea what the hell that means? Sounds like a contradiction in terms to me...

Nice pants, nice buttoned down shirt tucked in, nice shoes, no tie.

Wear darker dress pants (I.e not khaki) and a button down LONG SLEEVE dress shirt.

For men, just nice business casual.
Wear slacks, a button down and a coat. For women it probably has more significance.

Literally just dealt with this a couple weeks ago.
In Ascension Parish, it means:
It means nice jeans and a polo or button up for guys (cowboy boots are acceptable shoes)
Women wear cute dresses

This. Short sleeve button downs are the worst.

I'd go jeans, oxford, jacket. If I'm planning to get hammered I might wear a Christmas themed bowtie. (I wore a Frosty the Snowman last night.)

probably a suit with no tie. You're better with a darker suit, black or navy.
Really doesn't matter with men. Just wear the above and you'll be fine.
