Maybe they'll bring in Tressell under the radar in some unofficial Athletic Foundation job or something and Riley just has to keep the seat warm till the sanction stuff expires.

this has to be over some dispute with the AD like assistant coaching salaries or something

This. Something has had to change for Riley to get him to make this sort of move, after all his talk about how happy he was in Corvalis, the "lifetime contract", turning down other overtures, etc.

The more i think about it, the more i think this is a terrible hire. Nebraska can do better.

Only reason why I like this is because I couldn't stand Bo. He was a total A-hole.

Tells me they had Bielema in mind and no real back up plan imo.

you really think it would be that hard to top Riley?

his teams haven't been all that great in recent history.

How would Bo have done if he was the HC at Oregon State for all those years?

Erickson was the one who got the program off the ground, not Riley.

I bet the Husker message boards are in full meltdown mode at the moment.

Actually, most I've read are happy with the hire. I just don't get it.

He's still cutting his teeth as an OC but he'd be a better head coaching hire?

Here are some fun names to put up against Riley:

Chizik
Nutt
Orgeron
Mark Stoops
John L. Smith
Willingham
Tedford
Dirk Koetter
Scott Frost
Jim Bollman
Dennis Erickson
Butch Davis
Greg Schiano
Pat Fitzgerald
Pat Hill
Ralph Friedgen
Mark Mangino

How many of those guys would you take over Mike Riley? I'd take quite a few of them. Some of the names are there for calibration like JohnEl.
