Actually, most I've read are happy with the hire. I just don't get it.

They have come to accept NU's place in college football- aka not a top 10 program.

How many of those guys would you take over Mike Riley?

How many of those names that you would take ACTUALLY would want to go to Lincoln?

Seems like Nebraska was stuck and took what they could get. I'm just curious how they thought to talk to Riley. Or did Riley contact them?

They go from a guy who never lost more than 4 games per year to a guy who always loses at least 4 games per year.

You act like Nebraska is a shithole with no chance of winning

I'd be willing to bet that everyone on that list could have been persuaded to go to Lincoln.

Yeah, not really.

So the first winning season in 30 years and the best team in school history weren't Erickson's?

Did I say that? You're on the outside looking in, most in that position would think Erickson revived the program. However, those on the inside credit Riley with the revival.

Thanks for playing though.

Good point. I mean its not like Erickson has been a pretty good coach everywhere he's ever gone or anything like that.

They hadn't gone to a bowl in 35 years. Erickson went to 3 in 4 years. I'd say the OSU "insiders" would be crediting the guy who was still there.

You're right and he certainly did a great job, while there, with the players Riley brought in.

Riley did a good job recruiting and left before he could reap the rewards.

Well, you'd be wrong. Beaver fans credit Riley for it. Not saying Dennis gets no credit but Riley had the program moving in the right direction and left for the Chargers.

Questionable hire in my humble opinion

I don't think so. I'm just really surprised he left Oregon State.

Same here, makes me wonder what was going on behind closed doors. I mean, if he wanted a real job he had the SC job if he wanted it.

Erickson brought in plenty of juco's for that 2000 team. Simonton was a Riley recruit but the starting QB, CJ, and Tj Housh were Erickson's guys.

Didn't realize I said Dennis didn't bring in a single player that contributed.

No you said Riley revived the program which is just incorrect. The idea that the two recruiting classes he brought in sustained Erickson for 4 years is ridiculous.
