Reading this board, you'd think AJ was the only player on the field...

For the first time in over a decade, I was unable to watch or listen to the game on Saturday. Some would say it was a blessing. Maybe so...
But based on the postgame and all the buzz on these boards, I fully expected to watch the replay and see this QB horror show unfold. Ok- there were some God awful displays of incompetence- kicking game, O-line (after q1), play calling, even defense getting bashed pretty good. Not until late in the game did I see anything resembling an AJ meltdown. Yes, he made some bad decisions, and the fumble was boneheaded, but I'd put the blame on AJ at maybe 20% at best, with the rest spread around the team and coaching staff.
In a game where someone takes this amount of bashing (including al the crap he's getting on Social Media (death threats? really????), I'd expect to be able to find at least dozen or so major screw ups during the game at that position. Think JJ, Welter, ...
I'm just not seeing it. Maybe Harris should get the nod going forward. That's been my hope for a while...But to put the blame all on AJ for this one? Makes me wonder how many of the posters could identify more than a handful of screw ups? 5? I'd say no more than any other part of the team that took the field Saturday.
As for all the twitter comments, insults, death threats, etc.- people need to get a life. The best thing that happened was for all their comments (and names) to get posted in the Advocate article. May they endure the same.

you are correct. there are some major frick up performances from our offense. I disagree with you throwing the defense in there; no perfection but only giving up 17 points when your offense stinks is credible.
this OFFENSE has mailed it in.
why? beats me but I think cam Cameron is the reason.
what should be done? same thing the aggies did after their 59-0 drubbing.

Playing OL has a huge mental aspect to it. If you have no faith in the guy behind you, you aren't going to fight as hard.

agreed, but they took a while to get established...and the drives were not all when we were worn down.

That picture, to me, only shows a receiver being a little bit open. I don't know if people noticed the safety in the endzone or not. Yea the receiver is open for a split second but openness is defined by where everybody will be when the ball gets there. I wouldn't use that freeze frame to prove anything, really. The receiver isn't sitting, but he's moving towards that safety. Btw I agree that Jennings is not very good.

I'd put the OL injuries at the top of the cause list...and I'd put that on coaching for not having the depth 'at the ready' and prepared when we needed it (assuming we had all the depth they said we did in August!)

The 2 big problems with AJ are 1) he's super deliberate when he drops back, preventing him from making the quick throw that could have at least resulted in a 1st and goal situation, and 2) he only has eyes for Dural.

He doesn't have major frickups bc he doesn't throw the ball. He does nothing. He takes sacks, runs for three yards, dumps it off to runningbacks, or throws to Dural in triple coverage.
The defense is putting nine or ten guys in the box bc they know the qb can't/won't throw it and his best runs are mediocre

Would have been nice if Fornette had been on the field with him some right?

He literally stares down Dural every time he is on the field. Its just awful and i feel sorry for the other receivers on the team.

If you look closer there are very close to 5-yards separating Gordon from the safety while Dural's guy is 2 yards off at most, plus the throw to Gordon is shorter and easier to make, no way that defender gets to Gordon before the ball should plus Gordon would have his body shielding the throw from the defender if it is thrown correctly. Opponents disrespect LSU's tight ends so much they are shifting two guys out to cover Neighbors out of the backfield. Microcosm of why this cluster frick of an offense remains a CF week-to-week. It is incredible more talent can't be involved and utilized in every series with more diverse play calls.

QBs job is to get the ball to the player in a position to make a play. Not seeing open receivers, not finding ths single coverage and mismatches, not throwing receivers open ( back shoulder, etc.), missing open receivers, bad ball placement, throws that are too early or too late are all QB failures.
Jennings' failure to make plays and to take what the defense was giving him are busts. Unless you believe that Arkansas was able to both stack the box and still cover some of the best WRs in the country, then the failure was Jennings. If they were able to do both, then the failure is poor play calling or lack of talent for LSU. LSU has plenty of talent.

The worst part of the offense is that when Jennings does deliver a catchable ball - half the time the receiver drops it - especially after MSU - Quinn, in particular, has had some egregious drops, Melvin Jones had one that hit him in the hands, as have Chi, Dural and Diarse (and he's rarely in the game, so that's bad for him.)
So, while it does mainly fall on Jennings, there is plenty to spread around to the other skill positions.
OL pass blocking has been hit or miss all season. What happened at Arkansas is that all of the blocking went to hell. Blame it on AJ all you want, but he went 5/5 on his first 5 passes - passes weren't being called and we weren't able to move the ball on the ground (unless AJ was doing it).
Hopefully, this will free up Cameron and Miles to throw everything out (it's not working) - get their heads together with Grimes, Wilson and Ensminger and find an offense that fits our personnel and install it during bowl practices.
Failing that, just play Harris the rest of the way and see if he can generate anything with what they currently run...

Or he could smash him with a 5 yard head of steam

Kind of blows a hole in the whole "AJ only throws to Dural" narrative, doesn't it? OK, I admit thats a bad example bc he does obsessively key on Dural a bit much, but I love the exaggeration on this board. It's as if they are mindless robots reposting something they heard on "the point after" or some other after hours call in quack fest

The entire offense is filled with 4 and 5 star talent and is a complete disaster, minus La'El Collins
