I think i would want to request segregation
Do not think i would make it in general population
Think i would make it with books and writing
Watching Lockup on MSNBC got me thinking about the topic

Uhh, you're fine in gen pop if you make it clear you're just doing your own thing and doing your time.

Solitary....any other answer means you are naive.

Depends on how heightened the security is. Minimum security? I'm going general population. Mid to Max? frick that. Give me a coloring book or something. I'm going solitary.

Don't think I'd make it in prison mentally honestly. I have enough anxiety/depression problems in the free world lol

I would want to sleep in the yard.....by myself

You would probably go nuts from being alone.
From what I understand it's not as bad as TV and movies make it seem.
You get money and you can buy stuff like headphones and books and food. You may even get a cell TV.
Generally non violent offenders are kept away from gen pop maximum security. Think "Oz" remember they had 'levels' inside the prison?
OPP which is just a jail, has a reputation of being more dangerous right now, than Hunt or even Angola.
(Angola actually has a no BS warden and is well run with little incidents......reported)

They don't segregate you unless you are a threat to others or a child molester or something.

I'd probably have to choose self-segregation cos I'd kill too many of the other inmates.

I've taught a few classes at the women's penitentiary. They live in dorms. They put them in lockdown if they are caught with a cellphone or diddling another inmate.

My first inclination would be segregation, but everything I've read says that it drives most people insane eventually.

Cell block is segregation.
Angola has 3 levels
Dormitories
Cell Block (2 to a cell)
Lock down ( Administrative segregation)
Very few live in lock down or want to. You have the bare essentials ( mattress, blanket, toiletries, and legal papers.
Cell block is a step above. Shared tvs, some personal items, and can have a job
Dormitories give the most freedom. You and 64 fellow inmates hanging out. Tv room and open showers. Freedom to move around. Rec yard, jobs, classes, arts and crafts, etc. A lot easier to make the days go by

I would not do well in the general population but solitary confinement would drive me more crazy than I already am.

I feel I went into solitary confinement, like the hardcore kind...I'd come out with tons of awesome ideas. I'd sink into a creative stage. I'd love it.

Why? Are they giving you a choice?
Posted on 11/9/14 at 9:11 am to Rouge
they still have segregation in prison?

Trust me you would not want to be in solitary. You would want to be in GP and it's best to just keep to yourself as much as possible
