technical sense

Bank rolling a national campaign is a bit more than "technical".

Jeb is as well polished a political candidate as there is on the GOP side. If Romney can win the nomination then Jeb Bush can for heavans sakes. All the donors, precinct captains and lawyers are in place. You're not going to simply discredit Jeb because of GW in 2016. He is the one candidate nobody thinking of running wants in the 2016 race.

ETA: He is good for ~40% of the HISPANIC vote in a general election.

I will enjoy the next two years. I suspect that nothing much in my life will change. I may start eating more veggies, but I'm pretty sure that has nothing to do with the midterms.

Eta: here's a link to him speaking at the Prayer Breakfast that got him noticed (28:00 minutes long)

I don't know why you wouldn't. Giving a speech instead of a prayer certainly qualifies him.

The planet with an instant ground game in place and 100 million cash on hand out the gate. Yea, that well oiled machine is waiting on his decision. It's not a club of $25 donors jerking it to Paul, this is big time money that keeps him in the race until the end if he decides to run.
JEB's time was 2012. He ducked. I don't see him making waves after being out of government 8 years.

He's a smart guy that can really deliver on some small gov't ideas and I already know where he stands on ObamaCare which is fantastic and he can light a fire under the establishment. His drawbacks are little to no political experience, being a virtual unknown and some ridiculous socially conservative views in my opinion with creationism and gays.

All in all, he's most defintely not my first choice for President.

pretty much, although I do like some of his background. Still until otherwise, Rand is still my guy

Nothing to compete with. Your argument on his fitness is his (perceived - not established) religious beliefs. Hence, you have demonstrated no discernible intellectual ability. So, there is simply nothing to discuss. Keep parroting/shilling away.

Healthy eating. Good deal.

Oh goodness, now its just no longer sports, but politics too? And let me guess, the white candidates are deceptively quick, hard-working, lunch pail types, etc etc.

Wrong take away. Carson is bright. He's philosophically sound. He knows who he is, and why. He has a great story.

However, whether he has the organizational skills to translate those things into the functional, transformational policy people might expect remains an unanswered question. Same was true of Cain, across the board. Though frankly I find Carson far more thoughtful.

Carson's early announcement will allow him lead time to fund raise, and organize. He is an impressive, serious man. We'll know soon enough how serious a candidate he is.

Has nothing to do with Carson's race.
It has to do with what kind of race he's capable of running.

Well said. The fact is, no one knows how he'll perform at this point. Those saying he has no chance are either scared or stupid.

And let's say he won the nomination, you really want the Rs trotting out a young earth creationist? I have never heard Ben carson espouse the young earth creationism but he is a 7th day adventist.

I can think of thousands of things more relevant to the presidency than this. president with some true convictions would be a nice change in the white house.

Anyway, i'd love to see Carson eventually in office somewhere but needs to get some political experience before running for prez. This was a big problem with Obama (other than his lefty agenda)- he's just in over his head. Maybe Carson would be better on the undercard as VP for Paul.

This is the most important issue you can come up with?

When the president can dictate who the creator is, I'll care. But I doubt any president will be able to tell God to uncreate the universe.

The similarities of the two men are strong, and they go a lot deeper than race, but it does not surprise me in the least that you can't see past skin color (again).

Both men grew up in poverty. Both men overcame long odds to the ascend to the very top of their respective fields. Both men ran for POTUS having never held any other political office. Both men were ridiculed by the very folks that should have revered them the most.

I agree with you that it's stupid to base one's vote on that, but, speaking as a political watcher, I think that view will in fact destroy his chances.

Hell, I know intuitively that the dude is brilliant and yet, I really can't avoid thinking in my head, "how is such a brilliant man so f'n stupid on that subject?"

And I don't give a frick about his religious views from a voting standpoint. Alas, that would make me an exception I think on this point.

There are a slew of more important issues but this IMHO immediate disqualifies him. Its a fully retarded viewpoint and he would be shredded in the debates on the topic.

But frick, go for it. Nominate Ben carson, see how that works out for the republicans. IDGAF if you do.

I know what you mean and I , but looking deeper, there are significant similarities, beyond the coincidence of race.

Self-made and wealthy and not in the stereotypical way for blacks (sports, music, etc.) - their speaking styles and rhetorical approach are fairly divergent, with Cain being more direct and confrontational (typical of business background), while Carson is more contemplative and professorial (again, expected based on his background).

Both are effective speakers and presenters. Just as Cain had to be destroyed, Carson will be too. But, eventually, that won't be possible with a black republican with national aspirations...

Has he taken any stance on Ebola yet? Oh that's right, he said it was a mistake to bring US Missionaries infected with Ebola here. He was fear mongering from the outset. I think it is generally well accepted now that it is perfectly fine to bring ill US missionaries back to the US, no?
Carson on Ebola

you mean because the nurse who contracted ebomola didn't die everything is hunky dory right?

This is the problem with prog-leftards, they think the ignorant nonsense coming from their mouths is actually intelligent. They're functional morons who think they are smart.

And when a plague outbreak happens it won't be because the great idea they had wasn't really so great, it will be because Repubs/conservews wouldn't spend enough additional billions of dollars to fight ebomola.
