This topic and the haggling with DirecTV threads makes me wonder how they stay in bizness with all the deals the clever OT folks get.

I had a free trial that ran out a couple months back. I called to try and get the service, but I couldn't find anyone who spoke English good enough for me to understand them. I called a few times but the accents were too heavy.

The routine is, call and say you want to cancel. They will transfer you to another dept. They will ask you why. Tell them it costs too much for the little bit you listen. They will make you a special offer. If it's not good enough, tell them you still want to cancel. They will probably make another offer

Bingo. I do this every time.

I just call and cancel every 6 months and wait for them to email me the great deals. I've been paying $25 for 6 months for years. Never ever ever give them a CC or Debit Card #. I always pay with a pre-paid XM gift card from Best Buy.

I have XM and Spotify and wouldn't go without either. I use Spotify if I want to listen to a specific song in the car and I use it every day for the gym. Sirius is great cause I listen to a lot of talk radio, games, and TV (Fox and CNN are gold during Ferguson/Zimmerman).

I think I pay like $80 per year for Sirius

You can always talk them down to $25/6 months. Tell them you are canceling your service. If you are paying more then you're paying too much. At the end of the 6 months tell them you're canceling and they'll renew it. Rinse. Repeat.
