He lost more than 70 pounds, developed a staph infection that could have killed him, endured two bouts of pneumonia, a bacterial infection in his intestines and multiple excruciating flare-ups of oral thrush, and wrestled with depression that required hospitalization and therapy.
His scars are internal, imperceptible to the human eye, but his mouth is ravaged by 30 years of chewing tobacco. Even before his cancer was detected, Schilling had decimated his taste buds by dipping. The radiation and chemotherapy have since destroyed his salivary glands.
Schilling doesn't eat in public because he can't be certain that his windpipe will close properly. Sometimes food seeps into his lungs and leaves him prone to infection. Other times he chokes, coughs his meal back up, then starts over again. Dining requires careful, methodical chewing, reducing his food to a pasty substance, much like baby food. "I don't swallow normally anymore," Schilling explained. "I'm hoping I will someday, but not right now."

Well at least I'm not giving anyone else mouth cancer.

Why can't you stop making terrible threads on every fricking board on this fine site?

It really is sad, but everyone has their own addictions.
I tried explaining to someone once that they should do without drinking for a year or leave their cell phone at home for a week always people claim those are "essential" not addictions. get real

I have a buddy who dips. He can go months without doing anything you ask him. Drinking, whacking it, etc.
But the guy has never gone a full week without dipping.

Addiction and denial/disbelief of any bad affects happening to them of using the drug.

I've tried a few times and failed each time

I took my last dip on 6/18 of this year after 11 years of dipping 3-5 cans per week.
It's insanely difficult, and I am craving a dip as I type this.

Because you can't smoke anywhere. I would love for there to be a designated smoking area in TS. Until then, make sure to not knock over my spit cup with your flip flops on while going to your seat.

I haven't had one in a couple of months and I don't even think about it anymore.

I just up and quit one day. It wasn't that hard. People are just weak willed.

I don't know if you've heard, but it turns out that nicotine is very addictive.
