Yet Harris is still better than Jennings at this point. He knows how to throw to more than one reciever

I don't think Harris knows the offense better than Jennings. Harris has looked confused and unsure of himself when trying to run the base offense. I think that's why Jennings is in the game.

My opinion is they should implement a very basic offense with fewer plays but run from multiple formations with Harris as the QB. Our strength is in our skill guys so get the ball to them in as much space as possible and see what they can do.

Not to mention the fact that it was discovered that the 5* wide receiver is, well, a 5* wide receiver. Someone has to get it into his hands, though.

Much has been said about losing Mett/ODB3/Landry. But someone who could make Mett-like throws has more than enough stud receivers to catch them. Dural & Dupree are the big play guys & Quinn & Diarse are possession type receivers. Imagine if Mett had FOUR guys last year.

Please, release the hounds!

I'd say we can always go back to handing off the ball in the I.

We don't need a new qb. We need to make use of the awesome receiver's we have without asking mobile passers to sit in the pocket like Manning. Offensive line is just not good enough. Simple spread with fournette and harris/Jennings in the backfield will work. Someone just needs to pull the trigger.

what I don't understand is half the sec has a first year qb. aTm, bama, Georgia, etc. all of those guys are ALLOWED to throw over 30 passes per game. Jennings around 18-20. all of those guys have had 400 yard games already. what is wrong with us. are these guys that much better than Jennings, is it the scheme, the coaches, wrs. we are the only team with a first year qb who looks and plays just like a 1st year qb. I really don't get it.

So many of the same dumb asses will be on here bitching about how Les shouldn't have started Harris so soon and how Harris is now likely ruined for his LSU career.

Not to worry though because I would be surprised to see any major changes coming off one bad game. I just wish our fans had a little perspective.

It is going to take another loss for Les to start Harris full time. That loss is probably coming in two weeks.

Harris won't stink it up. The guy is just too talented and has an innate knowledge of how to read the field.

Jennings is a good QB, but I saw him get rattled this weekend. He played like he were on the road in a hostile environment.

"I'll accept the fact that we will suck and go on with my life"

Very well put. A lot of fans (not just including ours) whine as though they have some personal liability for the fact that we lose sporting events. Do fans believe that nobody on any of the other teams is any good or that nobody on the other teams really wants to win?

I didn't think it before the game, but I do now: Mississippi State has a better team than we do this year. We lost to a better team.

If this scenario plays out, will people still roast Miles for Harris' poor performance? Is it most people's expectation that if Miles decides to start Harris the rest of the way, he should also have him looking like a polished QB?

I think we should give Harris the start from now on and take our lumps with him as he gains experience. Jennings is a Jefferson clone without the mobility. We're not going to win any championships this season, so why not let Harris gain some very valuable experience? If he stinks it up, then our coaches obviously have some serious problems when it comes to evaluating QB talent.

I will roast Miles to no end if he switches the QBs but continues to hand off up the middle.

Harris seems to progress through the options more effectively while being prone to making more mistakes.
However, he obviously has the bigger "upside".
Jennings is serviceable but, as others have said, serviceable isn't going to do it this year.
So I say we take the lumps as he learns to minimize those mistakes and prepare for the future.

Harris is going to have difficulty running the offense, often being confused. He will make bad reads and bad throws. He will turn the ball over and will likely look like hot garbage against both Florida and Alabama.

Which is essentially what Jennings is already doing without any upside moving forward.

We aren't scoring double digits on either of those teams with Jennings starting.

It's the things that show you what a boss Harris has the potential to be. Stepping UP! into the pocket instead of backpedaling. The arm strength to make tough throws. Making multiple reads.

If Harris stinks it up, it'll likely be because they handcuff the living crap out of him and dumb down the offense instead of letting Harris be Harris. I agree, there will be a couple of boneheaded mistakes. There will also be consistency and multiple threats on offense instead of deep ball, pound it, or bust.

Some people in here are blaming the OL for Jennings struggles. No, it hasn't been phenomenal, but the pass protection hasn't been the absolute dumpster fire that our run blocking has been. Play calling the problem? Jennings had the opportunity to pass 35+ times for Mississippi State. Don't tell me that Jennings didn't have his opportunities. He failed to make the short-intermediate throws that extend drives/panicked and left the pocket early.

I don't think the starter matters as much as making adjustments and trying your backup when it just ain't happening with the starter. They said during camp there wasn't much separation between the two, that both were capable, yada yada yada... Well, you have more than one QB on your team for a reason. They are on your team to help you win. Some nights one guy may get it done and another guy may not. Some nights maybe neither will. But you have to use what you have to your benefit.
