He seems like a genuinely good guy, who runs a successful program, and actually coaches these kids up.

I assume WOJ is diminishing Coach K's role in this? What a hack.

You must be very conflicted about Cal working with the Dominican squad.

Woj detonates a bomb on Coach K for using USA Basketball and its players
Was thinking you meant:
And I didn't believe you for an instant since Wojo and Coach K are like father and son.
Also, had no idea Wojo is now the head coach at Marquette. That's pretty awesome for him!

IDGAF if Coach K was able to increase his brand. USA Basketball needed to get their shite together and he has done an excellent job righting the ship. That is really all I care about regarding this.
This
He can self promote all he wants for getting us back to dominating. The respect the team USA stars have for him speaks for itself.
I feel like he wrote this just because nobody ever picks on or criticizes Coach K so he wanted it to be "fair"

Florida's Billy Donovan was the under-19 head coach. Virginia's Tony Bennett and VCU's Shaka Smart were his assistants
So, he rips in to Coach K, but what about Donovan, Bennett, Smart, Cooley, Miller, and Boeheim?
Donovan has far more access to those players. Donovan gets those kids with the U-18 team and then again with the U-19 team.

That was my favorite part. Poor Donovan and Smart, being told what to do by their boss. No mention of them getting the same recruiting advantages.

Yep, he got tired of waiting around on the bench for K to retire.

Yeah, or he's just tight with the CAA crew. Just wrote a nice advertisement for Calipari and Kentucky last week, kills K this week. I don't have a problem with it but Cal coached the Dominican team for a summer when they had Karl Towns, a top 10 prospect who now plays for Kentucky.

I respect what K has done for Team USA. I also don't think it is hard to disagree with two things:
1) Once the big time players like LeBron, Kobe, and CP3 signed on to play the list of coaches who could win like he did grew exponentially. I have a hard time believing that someone like Thibs couldn't have gotten the same results.
We had 40 NBA players at a mini-camp, most of these teams we faced struggle to get more than 3 or 4 on their roster
2) Duke's recruiting was not where it used to be before he took the gig. Now they are out recruiting basically everyone.

I guess Coach K pissed in Woj's cereal this morning with his gold medal around his neck.
And Calipari didn't break any rules coaching Karl Towns' national team.
Woj just needs to stick to making un-based NBA rumors and hope they stick because articles just aren't his forte apparently
this. bullshite article written by a bitch

what a horribly hackish article
after a few paragraphs of utter bitterness, he then states
wtf is the point of your article then?

Jesus Christ he is mad Coach K isn't the coach at UNC.

and I seem to remember us not winning for quite a while. while we were "winning" in his eyes, Yugoslavia was dominating international competitions in the late 90's early 00's.

It's just a funny read going through the article a second time
At least on social media, there were two landmark events of this tournament: 1) Spain losing 2) Mason Plumlee making the team

he could keep Mason Plumlee on this World Cup roster without much of an uproar.

Well if Donovan is the head coach, he's deeper in than coach K.
