You're implying anything other than this idiot being 100% responsible for his death. Then preaching to us car/truck drivers to look out for idiots on bikes going 40 over the speed limit.

Can someone explain how?

You must make sure nothing is coming when you cross over another lane of traffic. Speeding does not remove that responsibility.

So the driver is admitting wrong doing? I don't think he was in the wrong at all.

It wasn't 100% on the rider.

It's a good message, and he wasn't preaching it. You should back away before you embarrass yourself more.

Then you're a moron. You have to pay attention when turning.

in all seriousness, that driver did nothing wrong..if this fricktard had been obeying the speed limit instead of barreling down the road at 97mph the car wouldn't have turned in front of him.

no way the drive expected that speck of a bike on the horizon to hit him as he turned.

nobody expects 97mph

I would disagree. A driver has the right to cross over an oncoming lane of traffic in order to turn onto another street. Turning =\= illegal. 100 MPH = Illegal.

He pled guilty... so yeah, he admitted wrong doing. Do some of you not even bother to read the articles before commenting?

After yielding to oncoming traffic in that lane.

I said the guy was going too fast. I believe that did play a role in this accident so he bares at least some of the responsibility for his own death. But the car should have seen him. That's a pretty straight road and that car had ample room and time to see him coming.

dude, i'd love to see you judge a turn with a bike coming towards you at 97mph.

basic math dicates he covered 143 feet in a second..thats 280+ feet in 2 seconds.

no way i'd think a car 300 feet away would crash into me if i was turning

even if the driver had seen the motorcyclist, it would have been very difficult for him to realize how fast the motorcyclist was actually going and that he wouldn't have enough time to make it across the lane.

Also, he may not have noticed the motorcycle because he only casually looked 300 feet* ahead of him since that would have given him enough time to make the turn assuming people are following the speed limit. someone going 162% of the posted speed is going to be much farther out than that.

*i made the 300 feet up.

That's a pretty foreboding "SLOW" right before the intersection

It's not that hard if you're paying attention. That driver clearly wasn't.

Pleading guilty doesn't always mean you were actually guilty

Your responses are so professional.

ETA: People get tickets for not yielding to traffic. People get arrested for doing 40+ mph over the speed limit.
