A recent phenomena for my burgers: they squirt juice after first bite

Grilled a few times this weekend with 90/10 ground beef. Gas grill around 450 degrees...4-5 minutes on first side, 3-4 minutes on second side and then I am done.
Took a bite last night and the burger juice shot out 8 feet, almost hitting some furniture in my nearby family room. This also happened a few days early.
Never had this issue before. I guess I need to start punching a drainage hole in these suckers before first bite, or maybe waiting a few minutes more before tearing into it.
Anyone ever had this issue? It was truly a mess and, fortunately, didn't get on anyone else's clothes or any furniture.

Very impressive!!
I usually find the lower fat beef can be dry & I have to add some fat to it to ensure juiciness...I for one have not had the issue....did you add anything that perhaps contributed moisture to the meat?

You sure these were beef burgers and not muff burgers?

There's an entire segment of the porn industry that caters to this phenomenon.

It usually happens when you overhandle the meat.
How long are you letting the burger rest?

That's what you get for cooking your burgers. I eat mine raw.

Let them sit 5-10 munutes to allow the juices to redistribute.

Apply bleu cheese liberally.
