I'm half native American, the name really doesn't bother me. I think it's a bit over dramatic to not call the team what the teams name is.
Doesn't hurt my feelings or rub me the wrong way. And ever other native I've talked to doesn't give a damn either.
And it doesn't sound as bad as like, the New York Kikes or Jacksonville Jiggaboos so, I wish non natives would find a more appropriate injustice to rally for.

Hard to believe. I've lived in the D.C. area since coming down for law school in 1973. I have never been a Redskins fan. I think that Dan Snyder is a dick. But I am willing to bet that he will never voluntarily change the team name and I hope he sticks to his guns.
And to all those announcers who are going to call the team "Washington" rather than "Redskins", considering how our government is working (or, more appropriately, not working), I am thinking that "Washington" is more offensive than "Redskin".
