This is the dumbest fricking thing I have ever seen in my life.

I just got back from that place and there is ZERO traffic

Next, when I watch the local Mobile News on TV in the morning getting ready for work they always show the traffic cams and I laugh because there is no traffic. There's literally a car or two on the interstate.

Look, I get it.. the tunnel gets backed up here and there if there is a wreck but good god.. every city has some sort of traffic rush hour. It's not that fricking bad.

This is by far the dumbest fricking thing I have ever read. Especially, when there are public schools in Mobile that don't even have air conditioning

This fricking bridge is 30 feet smaller than the Golden Gate Bridge!

Never in my life have I seen something this stupid and a total waste of money. Mobile already fricked up building that ugly arse cruise ship building where they dont even ave cruise line an now this?

I guess you've never driven from LA to FL. There's always fricking traffic in Mobile.

when the Wallace Tunnel was completed in 1973, the structure had a target optimum operating capacity of 50,000 vehicles per day, and that figure was reached in 1998. By 2004, the figure had increased more than 25 percent, to 63,000. When the last study was completed in 2009, modest projections indicated daily traffic of 75,000 vehicles with spikes to as many as 90,000 on peak travel days

The amount of traffic is only going to increase in the future and the bridge will only get more expensive to build

They need a bridge now. This can't happen soon enough IMHO.

If, every five years, it gets me to the beach faster then I am all for them building it.

if it helps me get to Destin faster, it's money well spent by the taxpayers of Alabama

Dude, I applaud Mobile for finally doing something about that stupid tunnel, and I doubt the OP has any ties to Destin if he has never seen Mobile traffic.

Being that the post office lost 2B the first quarter of 2014, I think a new bridge on I-10 is a great use of a billion dollars.

You act like this is going to be paid from the city's budget.

Mobile traffic sucks 7 days a week. It's not like the city budget pays for that anyway. It's not stealing funds from schools who "don't have AC"

They should put that bridge in St Francisville where they know a thing or two about useless, misplaced water crossing devices.
