Would you pay .10 cents extra per gallon of gas for a BR loop and Bridge?

Our biggest hurdle to creating a loop around Baton Rouge including a westside connector is lack of funds. Would you vote for a gasoline tax to build a Loop, Bridge south of Plaquemine, westside connector, and an expansion of highway 30?

Who would be paying that tax? BR metro people only?

My sister works for DOTD as an engineer. She siad yesterday why we don't have funds and why Texas does to do all these loops and maintenances: tolls.
You want nice shite, institute tolls so we don't have to rely on the federal funds to do shite.
It's that simple. But the populace and the politicians don't want to do it.

No, because that extra tax would remain after the construction and become permanent.

I would be ok with it, but I'd rather charge it directly to the user like the other states do it. A buck or a buck 50 to cut traveling through BR down to 10 mins would be well worth it.

I do want all these good things, but I don't want to pay for it. Unless someone else pays for it, then that's fine too.

Throw in 4-laning 42, 44, 74, and 70 and you've got a deal!

I thought it was finding land or agreeing where it should go?
I think it should be a tollway

stop putting misinformation out there. the whole loop, if built in it's entirety, is monumentally expensive, but it is and has always been planned to be a toll road built in pieces and "paid for" by the people who are using it...tolls.
it's not surrounding parishes "paying for a baton rouge problem," and it's not only baton rouge paying for connectivity for surrounding parishes.

why pay a tax when the drivers on the road will pay for it with a toll?
ETA: with that being said I do think a small raise in the gas tax is needed to pay for other road projects since the state has a $9 Billion backlog. However any project that could be paid off with a toll (i.e BR and Laffy loops) should be.

A new bridge and "loop or bypass" should be funded thru tolls on the new facility, and in my opinion, thru a private partnership. You will end up with a better quality facility.
A higher fuel tax is NEEDED to improve and maintain the overall highway system in the state. The current tax on fuel is retardly small. It needs to be increased and the best way is to make the tax based on the price of fuel, not simply a fixed fee.

No. They can take my fricking tax dollars that are spent on CATs/criminals and re-appropriate them to a loop.

Get this shite out of here. I like having a river between me and Plaquemine.
