How can a 15 year old be independent? They can't legally drive, hold a job, live on their own, etc. a 15 year old is the polar opposite of independent.

Too much attention being drawn to the area near where the penis goes. Sends a certain message that, right or wrong, will be interpreted as your little girl being "mature" in certain ways.
Are you ok with that "message" is what you should be asking. It's really not about the piercing.

15 yrs old, probably not. But I think the folks saying "belly button ring = sexually active and trashy" are out of touch. Maybe years ago that meant something, but not today. Plus If she wants to be sexually active, having a belly button ring isn't going to speed that process up and not having one won't slow it down.

Real talk, as a big brother, you need to support them 100%. The worst thing you can do is unknowingly undermine them by telling her she should be able to do it. She probably really looks up to you.
