i love them.. its like anything else on tv. I watch for entertainment and dont live by it. I know what hunting is to me and how i do it and dont expect results they produce on television

I like Jim Shockey and Kieth Warren, the rest are pretty douchy.

When October hits I usually watch VERY little of them just to kinda set the mood.
But I hate the celebrations.
Also not too impressed by the huge deer they kill.

I totally agree with you. Me and a good buddy are putting a video together now where we travel to public lands across the country hunting and doing the exact same thing "average Joe" can do. We will have it finished after this year. Hopefully put it in production also

We actually have footage of us scouting, what to look for and tracking the deer after the shot. Not some meathead luring a deer in with corn on a high fenced area then pumping his fist and squealing when he kills it, then miraculously it jumps to him sitting on the deer the next day.

I see nothing wrong here

I can't stand how right after the hunter shoots his 7Mag at a deer 60yards away, how he turns to the camera and whispers.

Bayou Bucks was one of my favorite videos ever made. I think the guys were from Hammond, and they gave me a free copy at Taste of Tiger Tailgating

This.
While I do enjoy most hunting shows, I agree that they can be aggravating to watch. I want to see the hunt and the harvest, not 15 minutes of promoting sponsor's products.
If any of you go on Youtube, watch some of Fred Bear's filmed hunts. Fred Bear's hunts were almost a cinematic experience. Whether he was in India, Africa, Canadad, Alaska, etc. etc., he would submerse himself in local culture and tell a story, similar to what Jim Shockey does today. That's why I'm a big fan of Shockey's shows, more for the explorative feeling of the shows.
If you can appreciate historical footage, check this hunt out.

You might be interested in Cameron Hanes. He's a backcountry bowhunter (he's also an ultra marathon runner). I learned about him on Joe Rogan's podcast. He sounded pretty badass. I thought he had his own tv show. Anyway, here's a video on him.

I'm not saying anything is wrong with it either. Just don't call yourself a professional.

I used to watch them before they became so cheesy. What I really can't stand is the whispering after the shot. Are they afraid their going to spook the dead animal?

Friend of mine used to always pick at the people who would watch them at the camp. He'd always say in the most serious tone "I wonder if they're going to kill anything?"
. Hunting is a lot about preperation and you don't see that so much in the shows because it all takes place beforehand. I don't care to watch shome guy shoot a big deer. Each show is pretty much the same. Fishing shows actually show you a lot of technique, so I find myself watching them sometimes.

In October when I'm chomping at the bit to shoot a duck, I can watch Avian X or RNT. Any other time of the year I couldn't care less.

Hunting, fishing, and golf are all in the same category for me. They're all things I like to do, but feel no need to watch other people on tv doing it.
I will occasionally watch a fishing show if they're somewhere I'm familiar with. But that's it.

Hanes is a badass. I have his book. This dude runs ultra marathons just to prepare his body for elk season. Hes always been about fitness and being in top shape; he used to be really lean but today's he's freakin huge. I honestly can't believe somebody so ripped can run as much as he does. He's a big time DIY public land hunter. I kinda of found out about him a long time ago, but today he's a little more publicized. He's one of the faces of Under Armour hunt and he hosts RMEF's elk hunting show.
