There is a reason for respecting the office internationally. Dan Rather smStarted the disrespect by calling W Mr instead of president. Allies and opponents notice this. It is a sign of disrespect. Whether you like the POTUS or not and it weakens on foreign policy.

This makes Rick Perry look petty. It's no different than the Democratic senator from Virginia who didn't shake Bush's hand.

But why would Obama give Perry the time of day after Perry's statement Sunday that he thinks Obama doesn't give a damn about the border or the security of the country?

Because Perry knows that Obama doesn't give a damn about border security.
Refusing to give the POTUS a photo op, to help him squirm out of a disaster that is his fault, is what Perry was doing. I mean the guy was going to fundraisers while we're being invaded by people, many of them with contagious diseases, and he does nothing?

By not enforcing immigration laws Obama has basically told these people that if they get here, the can stay. Many reports of this are coming out of these detention centers, as told to INS, and medical personnel.

You don't like Perry. Fine. But this is a crisis that effects the whole nation. And Perry was right to call out President Present on his inaction.

BTW if things are so terrible in their home countries how can the parents raise 6,000 to turn their kids over to coyotes?

The only purpose a quick handshake at the Airport would serve is a photo op for the Coyote In Chief.

Perry is exactly right. It accomplishes NOTHING for him to do that photo op. To those of you criticizing the Governor, tell me what doing that would have gotten done.

It sounds to me like the man is trying to do his job and get Obama to see what is going on for himself. But Barry doesn't want any pics of him watching illegals crossing the border. That is one photo op he definitely doesn't want.

“I appreciate the offer to greet you at Austin-Bergstrom Airport, but a quick handshake on the tarmac will not allow for a thoughtful discussion regarding the humanitarian and national security crises enveloping the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas,” Perry wrote to Obama in a letter Monday. “I would instead offer to meet with you at any time during your visit to Texas for a substantive meeting to discuss this critical issue.”

This is the real headline. And I like him taking that stance. More leaders need to rise up against the Obama administrations desire to force illegal immigration on us.

So your position is that he should stop at the border for a photo op? Yikes.

BTW, the reports I have read have the illegal immigrants shipped to other states. So I guess Texas isn't getting "flooded".

No. My position is that he should go to the border to see for himself what is going on and meet with Perry to find a solution. Since he isn't going to do that, he could at least head done there to pretend he cares and take a photo. He cares too little to even do that.

So your position is that since immigrants are being shipped to other states, Texas isn't being flooded? You believe that every immigrant is being shipped out and Texas has none? You believe that the Texas border agents spending time just dealing with the immigrant issue and not having time to do anything else isn't impacting Texans along the border?

Perry looks petty only if you don't read the article. Perry would have shaken his hand if Obama met him at the border. Perry just said he wouldn't meet Obama at the airport. I don't like Perry but this was perfectly played. Now Obama is meeting Perry in Dallas to discuss the issue.

1. Perry saw what Republicans did to Christy after Sandy.

2. Obama saw what Republicans did to Christy after Sandy.

Meanwhile the Dallas County Judge (the head of the county government) has announced three potential sites to house illegals, which has caused a bit of uproar in the area.

You can't simultaneously house someone and ship them out as well.

Umm why is this a big deal? Perry offered to visit with him at the boarder, Obama offered to meet him on the tarmac, Perry offered a more substantive meeting at Obama's choosing, Obama accepted. Where is the "dis" on either side?

True. Reports all made it sound like Obama stuck his hand out and perry shoved his hands in his pockets. Which would be horseshite. If he just in writing refused to show up for a hand shake shot? No care.

I don't like Rick Perry... We don't need your lying thread title to know he's a dimwitted a-hole.

What's funny here is that you think such an action would reflect favorably upon the man, and that your lie would reflect favorably upon yourself.
