Going for the weekend and the only thing I am hearing is Victor's Cafeteria and some lunch counter that looks like it's been closed for forty years from the outside.

Be sure to get a haircut while there.

I haven't rocked a New Iberia hair cut since 1999, my head is too damn big for the sides to be shaves.

Dave Robicheaux's bait shop on bayou teche. Enjoy the fetid smell of moss and ozone and have you a catfish poboy, 2 budwiesers and a shot of Jack with Clete Purcell, noble mon.

we book a yearly (discover an area around you trip) this year we picked New Iberia, last year was Natchez, next year will be St. Franicisville.
I know it makes no sense to pick these places as weekend destinations but it's neat to explore the towns around you.
I don't even really count it as a vacation, we have Destin and Gatlinberg next month for that.
Just a weekend get away.
I booked a cabin on Bayou Teche about a mile from Downtown. Leaving friday.

Bon Creole has some of the best seafood po boys in the state. Get a half crawfish, shrimp, or oyster and a cup of chicken and sausage gumbo. You can thank me later.

The restaurant at Jefferson Island is a beautiful setting. I don't remember how good the food was, only that I enjoyed the view.

Be careful where you park.

this was the most refereed place.
I kind of refereed to it in the OP
when I mentioned the lunch counter whose outsides looked like it had been shut down forty years ago.
I'm going there and also trying the Cafeteria because I got two breakfast coupons for there.

Looked at that too, at Rip Van Winkle gardens, that was my first choice to stay at but it was booked.
