Oh and don't let all the Alabama stickers worry you. It's just ULL fans trying to piss off LSU fans

This. I actually went to school with some of these people. The butthurt is strong in them, indeed.

Your kids will have to go to the tanning beds and gel their hair if you have any boys. They will be part guidos in no time. Seriously you won't have trouble finding a job especially if you go to reds or river ranch to network with people. I lived in both cities and like both of them.

don't join reds. Its full of meathead guidos. Join Oakbourne or LT, preferably Oakbourne. Has everything you need to work out with a golf course and tennis course

I do find the guido jokes funny, but your kids won't turn into guidos as long as they're in the right social cirles (i.e. in private catholic schools and not out in Broussard). Otherwise, they'll be partying in Jersey Shore South, YE YE!

The bottom level of reds is filled with meatheads but the top level is filled with the baddest yoga pants wearing bitches in the south. I'm a member of lt and I know oakborne, they don't come close to what reds can offer in terms of tutoring your kids while u work out, a day care while you work out and the pool area is the best in the city.

I grew up in Lafayette and just don't get this urban legend. I know one guy with an Alabama sticker. His daughter went to school there.

In fact, I'd say Texas A&M stickers are the 3rd most prominent collegiate display, after LSU and Ragin Cajuns.

Good reads. I was born in Natchez Ms. and raised in Vidalia La. (across the Ms. River/central La.), moved to Monroe to go to ULM (GF at the time was going to Tech), and I had friends at ULM. I've always wanted to live in SLA. I have a good career in Monroe, but honestly Monroe is so poor and crime is so high that I don't want to raise my daughter here.

having lived in both places, Lafayette is the better place hands down. The only down side is that the cost of real estate will be higher(for a similar house in a nice 'hood) and there are less hunting and fishing oppurtunities(but you're closer to saltwater fishing).

I'm not in the banking industry but there HAS to be more room for growth in Lafayette than Monroe. The amount of money and growth in Lafayette is far greater than Monroe. not. even. close.

That may be your experience, but I see several of them every time I'm in town. I know several guys who live out there who go to ULL who sport the Bama A on their cars. I also see Bama gear worn by people every time I set foot inside of the mall over there.

I like N La a lot, but the culture here is amazing. My wife and I moved to Lafayette 10 years ago and love it. You'll be amazed at the things to do...live music, downtown, festivals, good restaurants, etc, etc.

The traffic sucks, but other than that, it's a really nice place to live.

I grew up in Monroe and left when I finished college. All of my family is still there. I currently reside on the Northshore and have an opportunity to relocate my family to Lafayette to run the company's new Lafayette operations within the next 12 months.

While it would be a great opportunity for me, I can't see myself living in any other area in LA than where I currently am. The wife and I visited Lafayette a few weeks ago and I left with a bad taste in my mouth. It wasn't anything in particular, it is just that the Northshore has much more favorable demographics for where I want to live and raise my family.

Crime in Monroe is getting out of control. Lafayette is booming, but so is the Northshore. Once the pussies here realize the economic impact the tracking operations will have, I won't leave. All of the public schools are great and there is zero crime. Laffy can't offer that for me at this time in my life.

I've seen like 3 Alabama stickers in Lafayette my whole life. Don't know where that comes from.

Must have been those 3 miles from I-10 through the north side that turned you off
