Yep. You'll have to learn what weird phrases like "get down" mean.
And hose pipe

Neither place offers a whole lot, but Lafayette is the lesser of two evils here

Where do you fish? I have a camp in Dulac. It's a 2 hour drive, but well worth it.
Good fishing year round (it was windy as frick last weekend, so didn't catch many, but the previous weekend limited out on specks everyday and caught a good number of reds.)
Weather looking good this weekend, we'll probably catch a couple hundred specks if I had to guess (either at Timbalier or Coon Point).

I mean, I'm not super familiar with mortgage banking or anything, but there are banks everywhere. The main industry in Lafayette is healthcare though. If you have experience, you could probably find something, but rumors of Lafayette "booming" are greatly exaggerated.

You really think the main industry in Lafayette is healthcare?

I'll probably be out there. I'm going either late tomorrow or Thursday morning. I always talk to one of my neighbors down there who fished the day before to find out where they are.
One guy goes out almost everyday and in decent conditions rarely misses his limit. Been fishing there his whole life. I've only had the camp for a couple of years so still learning a little bit, but I've pretty much got it down. That area is the best for reds and specks in Louisiana IMO.

Lafayette is and always has been an oil town.

No shite. Have you ever heard of a thing called "oil". I've heard it can be worth a little money......

I would venture to say that it's oilfield and not healthcare that is the main industry in Lafayette. I know my company is opening a few facilities there (Broussard, New Iberia area included). I would say it's growing pretty well.

Main industry is service companies servicing the Big 3
