Sterling also played day in and day out with a large club. Safe to say that at the moment Sterling is much better than Green.

I'll admit I haven't followed Green outside of the usual highlight clips but what makes a 19 yr old like Raheem Sterling able to start for England and Green not contribute at all?

Is Sterling just further along or was England just struggling for depth?

Raheem Sterling starts for the team that finished second in the BPL. Sterling made his England debut 2 years ago.

Julian Green plays in the Bundesliga's 4th division and just made his USMNT debut a little under 3 months ago.

Who here would have believed that Deandre Yedlin would play a large role in 2 of out the 3 games so far?

He certainly played a large role in Portugal's 95' minute goal. Da frick is he doing higher up the pitch than Wondolowski?

Large role is a bit of an exaggeration.

Look, he definitely has the talent to be a fixture for us in the future, but he is not ready for this stage yet.

Every young player is always not ready until given the chance to prove that they are ready. #TeamGreen

I just want somebody in the game that can provide some type of offensive attack. Right now we have two players in the midfield that provide very little in the attack, Beckerman and Bedoya/Zusi -- though I thought Zusi looked very good cutting underneath and providing support to Duece against Portugal.

I'm not sure we can afford to have Bedoya and Zusi on the field at the same time.

For a player of his experience and skill, Green has done a great job being one of the first players off the bench

to cheer when someone on the field does something productive.

They may have similar skill sets, but Sterling is miles better right now. He has all the athleticism and skill, but also seems to have a great footballing brain. Supreme confidence in himself too.

Whoever said Green looked like a boy playing against men when he came on was right. Hell, he is a boy. You could see it in his eyes, dude was a little spooked. But you never know, a months worth of training with the guys and getting more comfortable with everything can make a huge difference for a player that young. You never know how a player will react until you trot him out there. At least he got his feet wet in the last few games before the tournament started. Starting is surely out of the question, but for a sub It only takes a second to score a goal or make one, and that is something he is capable of doing (I guess). Something like that could win us a World Cup game.

No, and he shouldn't. We all knew this going in.

My thoughts exactly. I'll take talent over experience almost every time. And, in this case, where experience comes in the form of Wondo, I'd prefer Green or Johannsson get a shot.

I think Johannsson may be the answer.

JJ looked good playing the left side of the diamond against Ghana. Think Zusi starts on the right.

Still can't believe Wondo got a spot over Boyd. Boyd maybe could have helped us with Jozy out. Wondo has done nothing and doesn't fit the role.

I've never looked at it as an either/or. I've always seen it as an A+B equation.

Liverpool supporters can probably attest to this more than I can, but I seem to rember Sterling being pretty raw when he first got to Pool. He was forced into action earlier than they'd like when Suarez got suspended and was sort of tried by fire. He wasn't great for a while, but his development was built.

Green would be same way IMO if bayern played him. It would be a slow start but with his talent, the more minutes he played the faster his development would continue. The World Cup round of 16, though, is not the time for that.

He might play. If there isn't a possibility, then I don't know why his name is on the roster.
