you tried to compare him and propose him as a replacement for Jozy.

No I didn't. I said he could provide a spark off the bench late in a game if we need a goal. I only mentioned Jozy to point out that we need as much speed and athleticism on the field as possible after he went down.

The fact that Davis didn't really pan out is irrelevant.

How so?

It is irrelevant to the argument that Klinsmann is willing to play the players on his roster, which is the counterargument to the idea that there are "wasted spots" on this roster.

If that argument applies to Davis, it applies to Yedlin and Gonzalez. It also applies to Green, Diskerud and Chandler.

It's bullshite

Looking at some of the guys we brought, Jurgen never plans to play some of them. Which gets back to LD.

Who hasn't played that should have?

The only guy I haven't seen that I'd like to is Mix. If we get into yellow card trouble (which means we'd win tomorrow), we'll get to see some of those others.

Jurgen's played the right players so far.

ETA: except for Brad Davis.

I mean, that is what happened against Portugal and Yedlin played pretty well. Johnson has been subbed out of 2/3 of our games because he gets tired from all the running we ask him to do.

Bedoya is in the same boat. He was subbed out of the first two games and came into the third as a sub, I think. He gets gassed easily, too.

Our options are pretty thin, especially after the Jozy thing. He's listed as a striker, right? Surely he could add something late in a game running at a tired defense.

You thought he was a striker

tactically how bad he was vs Germany

C'mon, man. Don't reach. Omar was very good against Germany. He struggled for the first five to 10, and once he settled, he was an asset.

Of course, I'd have to watch the Germany goal again to see if he was supposed to mark Per, which is why I assume he started in the first place.

He wasn't MOTM, but he wasn't bad.

Me and some others pointed out some of the tackles were b/c he was out of position

He did his job not get pushed around by the Germans

It's not that crazy... I would only grade Howard and Besler ahead of Gonzo for the Germany game.

Would not be surprised to see Gonzo again tomorrow too. His size could match up well with Lukaku in the box

Ok, he's listed as a winger, whatever man. If he plays, it will be late in the game and he would presumably be playing very far up the field. My argument, once again, was that he would bring speed and athleticism to run at a tired defense. I never once said he would be a like for like replacement for Jozy.

If we are tied in the 75" Yedlin and Green come on to help the attack. There speed should help create chances and worst cas Green actually gets a penalty called for us

If anyone would have suggested stating Brad Davis against the Germans, then they would have chastised.

yeah because it was a terrible decision and we all knew it. coaches can be supported when they make the right decision and they can be criticized when they make bad ones. i dont have to just blindly follow everything jurgen does because he is our coach.

yeah but that's ok if your ability can make up for a lack of tactical awareness to make those tackles. that's not uncommon at all.
