I hate his MKT class. I'm currently in it. Is it my imagination or is there information on there that is not in the teaching materials?

Currently in FIN 701 with Choi and it has been easy. 1 discussion / response per week, 2 case study's, 3 tests (not open book but you get to use a notecard with all the formulas written down). Currently have a 98 in the class and only have 1 case study, 1 discussion, and 1 test left.

TigerChick2018, congrats to you on your hard work to get through the program in 10 months. I have tremendous respect for you in doing this while working full-time and bringing up two teenagers. That takes serious commitment!

For those in FIN 730 is there a book you could send or would you mind emailing the slides/study material over to MegamanX268@gmail.com? I plan on taking this class/maybe doubling up and would like to read through and study the material before hand. Would certainly appreciate it! (Ps: I’ve got most all other books if you need anything!)

That’s correct, I’m spending a lot of time studying but beats the hell out of having to take James. As unfair as these exams may be I’m thankful I got in this course!

The first MKT 701 exam was brutal, I haven't taken the second one yet, but I studied a LOT for that first test.
I'm just thankful that the majority of the class has been based on the writing instead of the exam. I got a C on the first exam, the worst grade I have ever received for a test that I actually studied for. Fortunately I'm still managing to pull an A, but there are still two tests to go, so I'm still worried. I'm hoping for a Beta Gamma Sigma invite, so I'm trying to finish with a 4.0.
The pacing of the class is pretty idiotic. Week 3 and 5 have both an exam and a case analysis AND a discussion question. What the hell? And the case analyses are 3 weeks in a row. Problem is, they grade slowly so you don't even have feedback on the previous paper until the next one is almost due.
MKT 705 is set up so much better. 25 question tests each week, but just on the current chapter and forum discussions alternating each week with case analyses. I also like the fact that she has real videos where she explains things, not just a powerpoint that doesn't really tell you anything. Quite a lot of reading though and there's also a final...
I heard that reading the actual textbook helps tremendously for the MKT 701 tests, so I'm trying that this weekend.

I pulled a high B on the first MKT 701 exam. I only reviewed the slide decks. Some of the material presented on the exam was not covered by the slide decks. I downloaded a previous version of the text that he recommended, and I will study that material over the next couple days. Remember, in multiple choice exam questions you can automatically discount half of the answers which usually makes for a 50/50 shot at guessing the right answer.
Also, if you didn't score as well as you thought you should have on any of the case study assignments, send an email to your academic coach and ask why.

A couple more things: MADM 760 with McLaughlin covered several concepts that are being covered in MKT 701 with Darrat. Taking it before 701 has helped. Also, taking MKT 710 before 701 has certainly helped.

Taking MKT 701 is like a repeated poke in the eye, with something sharp. Back to studying now for this exam. Meh.

Just took the second exam, did better than the first but it still had some questions that came out of left field. Absolutely no way to prepare for that.

I completely agree, I pulled an low B which I am extremely disappointed in. I luckily scored a high A on the first exam. There were several questions that were not in the PPT beyond a shadow of a doubt. I emailed the professor about them and he said he would take a look but does not issue credit on individual test but at times does at the end to the total score. Mind blowing that you can issue a test with questions that are not presented in any review material. I actually have a member of a groupme that said they made a 100 on the second test but admitted they got lucky guessing on several. Thank goodness I have a great TA and my papers and discussions are keeping my A

My TA is slow on grading. It's Friday and I still don't have a grade on my last case study. I'm not impressed with this MKT class at all.

Lutzhill,
Actually I have to say that your review on McLaughlin is the reason I will be taking her for MADM 760 next session. It sounds like it is set up pretty similar to MKT 705, which I've greatly preferred to MKT 701.
I don't really want to do a group project, and frankly I don't want to do a big paper at all. A couple discussion topics are better than a few large papers and weekly tests are greatly preferable to 3 big tests covering way too much material.

Question:
I'm writing a byline. Is it necessary to put the two following items?
1. Louisiana State University Shreveport? Can I write Louisiana State University for purposes of simplicity?
2. Can I put MBA or must I put MBA in Human Resources?

Acct 701 Assessment 5 I think was just as tricky.
It still feels like the questions are coming from another class altogether.
Needless to say, its the same frustration since you can never see/understand what you got incorrect.

I think you have to use "Shreveport" otherwise it could be misleading.
I think just MBA is fine.

From what I understand, your actual degree will say
Louisiana State University, Shreveport
At the same time, you will receive a Masters of Business Administration. Your official diploma will not indicate any specializations or concentrations.
I would write exactly what my diploma states. LSUS and MBA. Of course, as DieDaily said, if you're applying for an HR job, you might want to add that. You can get a letter from LSUS that says what your specialization or concentration was.

I could go either way on this. My diploma says "Louisiana State University" on the top line in big font and then "Shreveport" underneath in small font. If we'd gone to the main campus, it would simply say "Baton Rouge" on the 2nd line in small font.
Yes, we did attend the Shreveport campus but it's all part of the LSU system. So I don't necessarily think it's lying to leave Shreveport out. However, it is more specific so do what's more comfortable for you.
