Just take the practice final. You can check each individual answer.

This MKT class with Darrat is definitely the worst class that I have taken in the program. Test 2 was just like test 1 with only about half of the information that is needed included in the provided class material. I did purchase a copy of the suggested book (That was not provided in the class), so I will make sure to read chapters 7,8,9 for the final test. The non-grading of Case Study #2 before #3 is due does not help either. My rental TA that I was assigned is extremely slow on grading everything. Not the way that I wanted to end the program, as this is my last class. 2 more weeks, 2 more weeks, 2 more weeks.

My TA is slow on grading. It's Friday and I still don't have a grade on my last case study. I'm not impressed with this MKT class at all.
I started in January and will be done in October. I took 2 classes per session. I read nearly every post since this forum started, so I planned my course pairings carefully. I have a wife, 2 young kids, and a job that doesn't require much overtime. I typically spend an hour or two per day on my assignments.

Has anyone had the $50 graduation fee show up on your account yet?

FIN 710 with Hsieh was my only class that I got a B in. 701 was a breeze in comparison.

I totally agree with your view of the MKT course. The PowerPoint slides as the only form of info is ridiculous. I sent you an email for a copy of the book. Thank you for offering it.

I also did bad on the MKT 701 exam. Looks like we are all in the same boat. It didn't seem that hard while taking it. Apparently my educated guesses on many of the questions were wrong.

I was faster than Speedy Gonzalez getting to my computer to switch the Marketing 701 class. Biggg sigh of relief.

With that pairing, you will still be fine. Trust me.

I hope you are right. 4 classes to go... I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

RE: ISDS 705

This is a perfect example of the inconsistencies of this program. Program and class changes make it hard to pair classes logically. It looks like my pairing of Lin and Meeks is going to be much more difficult than I thought. So much for a little breathing room before diving into MKT 701 in the fall.

I'll be in both classes with you. Congrats on nearing the end of your MBA. This will be my 3rd and 4th classes. I'm hoping to finish in October.

@perry_g5
Did you take FIN 730? If so, how was it?

In FIN 701 (Vines), I got a bad draw on the test 4 questions. It was my worst test out of the four by far. Luckily, I still pulled out an A in the course. The current course materials are a bit lacking for sure. I am very appreciative of the previous class materials provided in this forum. He is a great teacher though.

FIN 710 sucked (Hsieh). I got a B in the course, but it was not easy. The class material was tough, but I could have pulled an A with a better instructor. I have Hsieh for FIN 720 starting soon, so I'm expecting more of the same.

These 7 week classes are nice. 2 classes down, 8 to go.

You can just use Excel, but he gives examples using a HP financial calculator. Excel is a lifesaver for me because of the time savings during tests.

701 is general finance concepts, but the teacher (Vines) is more concerned with your grasp of the concepts and reasons for making decisions than just the math equations. He is a great teacher that provides alot of zoom sessions and answers questions so that people can understand it. When you show your work on the tests, he provides partial credit even if you get it wrong.

710 (Hsieh) on the other hand, deals with more advanced investment concepts, but is more math structured. There are a LOT of equations and you basically have to teach yourself from the provided materials. The tests are multiple choice, but you either get it right, or wrong... there is no partial credit for a question. Overall, it is much harder. The language barrier makes the zoom sessions a bit more difficult to grasp the concepts.

I spend 25% of my time working on 701 work, and 75% of my time on 710 work. I have a high A in 701 and a mid B in 710.

How was Exam 3? I'm debating on taking it this evening or first thing in the A.M.

I thought it was pretty easy. I got lucky on the random question draw this time.

I've been a lurker for a while, but decided to start to participating in this awesome forum after reading pretty much every post. I just started the MBA-Finance concentration program this spring. I'm currently taking FIN 701 (Vines) and FIN 710 (Hsieh). AP2 I have Econ 705 (Shaughnessy) and FIN 720 (Hsieh). Hoping to fast track this and be done in October.

FIN 701 is pretty easy, but FIN 710 is brutal. I have a 86%, and pretty happy considering how tough the tests are.

Anyway, I will be happy to help or share whatever info that I have.
