socal I'm currently in 720 and so far it is a very easy class. The material is not demanding and not very time consuming.

Hey wolf, what you described doesn't sound too bad. How much writing is the journal? I like that the quizzes - and I assume the final - are all open book No proctoring?

I just signed up for my Fall 1 and 2 courses.

AP1:

ACCT 701 - Ambrosio & MKT 701 - Darrat

AP2:

ECON 705 - Shaughnessy & ISDS 705 - Lin

What do you think about these pairings?

jwilliams,

I think AP2 looks fine. Jury is out on AP1 as ACCT appears to be changing format and Darrat is a new instructor for MKT.

Oh, I know. Any time I get stuck I look for a recorded Zoom video to point me in the right direction.

I was just trying to explain why I think this class is catching some people off guard. It seems each week there is 2 - 3 new forum posts on the Moodle site with people claiming this is the hardest class they've ever taken and they don't know how they'll pass it. And every time Shaughnessy responds asking why they didn't reach out to him and if they watched the videos.

You can tell he's at his wit's end on how to help them. I feel bad for him because I can tell he's a good teacher and tries to make this as fun as he can.

At the end of every chapter, you answer a questionnaire, and write 1-2 paragraphs on them. About 12 questionnaires. You to write a 1 page leadership statement, 5 multi-paragraph "moments of inspiration" stories. You get the info right out of the gate and have the entire course to work on it.

Agreed on Shaughnessy. I didn't like the class but between the text, powerpoints, video lectures, zoom sessions, and forum posts, he goes beyond any of the other instructors in the program in regards to presenting the material.
From what I recall in that class and what I'm seeing now in FIN 710, the problems people are having on the discussion forums isn't necessarily ECON or FIN concepts... it's calculus and algebra.

Hey guys!

I can Graduate in December if I take the following classes next session. What are you all thoughts on this? Would you take the risks of taking all these together, or wait til Spring? I'm curious to hear someone else's perspective. Also, looks like Darrat is not going to be too bad. He has good reviews. I think they are using his middle name, but on rate my professors it is Mohammad Darrat.
FIN 701- vines
ACCT 701 - Ambrosio
MADM 715 - Wren
MRKT - Darrat

Even in ACCT701 with Ambrosio which is probably the easiest class I've ever taken, there were people having problems converting thousands to millions.

In Econ, it's people complaining about Excel even though you can watch the videos and see exactly what you need to do.

I may not like the class format, but really he is an excellent teacher and seems very responsive to people's questions.

Best of luck with the program! It is so weird looking at post like yours because it was me last August or so!! I remember thinking "man I wish I was half done like those guys are", well now I am!! I only have 4 more classes to go! Enjoy your time in the program, stick with it, reach out and meet people and make new professional contacts! It will fly faster than you think.

Just reviewed FIN710 exam 2. As suspected I missed 2 MC because of dumb careless mistakes. Should have had a -1. Frustrated with this class.

I missed another 3 point one. Ugh! It was the true IRR one which involved multiple steps. I forgot about that and used my excel template. Since I didn't get any of the answers, I just guessed and guessed wrong. I knew how to solve this!

I must have missed the same one as you where the answers was -1. I thought those were pretty easy, I don't have my paperwork to check. Were you able to solve it now and get -1?

I only missed True/False questions. I second guess myself on all of them!

***Has anyone thought about joining the Honor Society Beta Gamma Sigma that LSUS has a chapter for? If so, do they extend invitations when we are ready to graduate or is it when you are half way through the program and have a certain GPA?

Hi MondayAMQB,

Could you please let me know whether the ACCT701 class has a pdf version of the text book? If not, should I buy the book online from the bookstore?

Thank you!
