I am so frustrated right now! The business I chose for my MADM 752 family business profile isn't responding to my emails regarding the interview anymore. Dr. Knotts is only giving me till Wednesday to find a replacement business. Blah :(

Hey all, I have been following this forum for a little while now and appreciate everyone's posts regarding the LSUS online MBA program. I have recently been accepted and am planning to start in the first Fall 2017 term; however, I have recently also stumbled upon University of Louisiana at Lafayette's new online accelerated MBA program that has a similiar tuition cost ($12,800). I know this forum is catered to LSUS, but I was hoping you all could give me advice on which school/program would be better? I am aware that LSUS is a satellite school while ULL is the main campus school, so it seems like ULL may be more recognized but LSUS is also a part of the largest Louisiana school system.
Any advice or opinions would be greatly appreciated!

I think you already know your answer.

Ha.. yeah, I understand that, but since ULL's program is new I'm wondering if others would have picked that school over LSUS if it was offered sooner.

For me, I'd still choose LSUS. Bottom line is it's part of the LSU system. When we receive our diploma it's going to say "Louisiana State University". Because of the high profile of the LSU football team (and to lesser extent the basketball team) over the years, LSU is very recognizable nationally. If you tell people you're attending LSU they understand who that is. The mention of the Shreveport campus means nothing. The focus is on the LSU name.
ULL has none of these advantages because they have no national exposure. ULL will carry little to no weight in parts of the country other than Louisiana.
I live in SoCal in USC country. All my USC Alum friends are very respectful that I'm going to LSU. I don't think they would be if I said ULL.

Being from south Louisiana and looking to stay in Louisiana, I would say ULL is more reputable than LSUS. I think any Louisianaian south of Alexandria would agree.
If you are not from LA or seeking opportunities outside of LA, then socal is right on. The LSU even with the S will be way more recognizable.
Not knowing the format of their program I can't say which I would choose. A lot more goes into the decision than name recognition.

ULL- Offers more MBA Specialization pathways, 33 credit hours/11 courses....9 core and 2 concentration, minimum time of completion 15 months, 8 week class format
LSUS-30 credit hours if business undergrad/10 classes..... 7 core and 3 elective, minimum time of completion 12 months, 7 week class format, #4 ranked AACSB Online MBA Programs

I agree socal. I am currently living in Los Angeles where UCLA and USC dominate MBA talks. Just about every school has satellite campuses. The cal state system has a bunch of schools amd the Univeristy of California system has like 13 or so campuses. When you think of California universities you think of USC, USC and Cal in Berkeley.
I told people out here I go to LSU Shreveport port and they take it as LSU.I don't try to be deceptive about it, but people don't care they just say oh you go to LSU.

Ugh, these MADM 752 Mindtap quizzes are making me feel dumb. I really do honestly understand the family business concepts . But the way the quiz asks questions is so frustratingly vague! I had a few questions this week where all 4 of the possible multiple choice questions could have been the right answer. This "most right" answer BS is ridiculous. I earned a 46.67% score this week. I'm an A student in this program and know there's many others in this class in the same boat. There's a problem here.

Is that correct? I thought the University of Louisiana system was technically bigger.

Everyone, thanks for all the opinions and help. I honestly am not sure where my future career path will take me, but I do currently enjoy living in south MS. You guys make a great point that LSUS will be more known outside of the Louisiana area than ULL even if it is not the main campus. Even if I stay in this area, it is a well known name. Thanks again for confirming my decision! Now hopefully, the program doesn't get too difficult or the tuition rate increase as I have heard you guys mentioning.
Colonel Flagg, I believe it is LSU but don't quote me on that.

Enrollment wise The University of Louisiana system is bigger. Budgetary, Louisiana State University system is larger.

I am right there with you with the MADM 752 quizzes, Socal. I changed my approach this week and took the quiz immediately after reading both chapters and I got a 40% - worst grade yet! I shouldn't have tried to think about the answers- random guessing might have earned a higher score! There was a note in the overview for the week that there was a miscoded test question and adjustments will be made -- I doubt that will be enough to help grades in the 40% range, however. The material is pretty easy -- I also feel like I understood the concepts. I have As on the other assignments in the class. I wish we had access to see which questions we got wrong - I do think that would help both with mastering the material and in figuring out (if it exists) the underlying logic of how these questions are structured. When "A" students who have read the material are consistently doing poorly on the test, it is time for the instructor to scrutinize the testing instrument.

Unlockthedream, you stated the issues very clearly. Something is wrong with the material if high achieving students are getting failing grades.
Have you shared your concerns with Dr. Knotts yet? Myself and a few others have. The more she hears our concerns the better.

Socal77,
You are completely right about these quizzes, but I don't think she's going to do anything about them. This starts week 6, and she hasn't done anything about them so far. She will probably rethink them for her next session, but that will be too late for us. We just have to keep pushing through. We have almost reached the finish line. I'm so glad that my concentration only requires one elective. This one wasn't the best choice, but I think we can make it out with at least a B. :)

Socal77, I agree with you. I've had all A's thus far with only 3 classes left to go. I just "love" how she has a post on the class page now about how we're all MBA students & need to do graduate level preparation. Well based on everyone's statements, we are all reading and studying as required and still failing the quizzes :(

I sure having a selection is best. For some reason, LSUS program seems to not be organized such as instructors being new to courses as well as students. Poor or little assistance, instructors not caring if students understand or learn (not all but the most). The 7 week courses would be a deadful painful 7 weeks. A test run and trial/error with many courses and too much of a work overload. I will look at the options. I am sure ULL will hit LSUS hard.
