Looking at buying a Tahoe

I am trying to decide between a 2014 and 2015. From my initial research it looks like I could save about $5k by going with the '14. I don't really like buying an "old" body style however. So I will probably end up going the '15 route.

Also, don't know if I can justify the $10k or so to move up from the LT to LTZ.

Anyone have any tips (not general car buying tips) on purchasing a Tahoe? What features are worth it and which aren't?

the 15's are so new right now, it would probably be advisable to wait a little while until they start applying some rebates

if you could even wait until 2016's were available, it'd be the best, but thats unlikely

I'm still trying to get use to the new body style. I like the old better than the new.

If you really care about money you wouldn't be buying a new SUV so go with the 2015 gmc Yukon. Or the Escalade if you are a true playa.

Get a new Yukon instead. The Tahoe is ugly IMO, but the new GMC looks very nice.

ETA: Buy this one.

Get the 2015 Tahoe LT with the LTZ wheel option.

Wife has a 13 bought about a year ago, neither of us like the new body and would have probably went with something else if it was our only choice.

LTZ is personal preference and only you can decide if it's worth the cost difference.

The new model is not my cup of tea. I drive a 2012 and I love it. Hold no hope for a back seat, those things are completely useless. A tahoe is a 4 person vehicle, 5 at best.

I bought mine used and they gave me the wheels upgrade for free.

What does the LTZ have that the LT doesn't? And of those differences, can some be added to the LT without going full LTZ?

Trying to get this back on track.

At the rate GM has been issuing recalls, I'd be hesitant to buy a 2015 since it's the first year of an all new model...especially given the fact you'd have to pay more for it.

in the 2014 body it was easy to add options that you wanted after the fact.....I don't know much about the 2015's

I have a 2011 Yukon SLE 4x4 that I picked up used in 2012. The dealer added heated leather and a sunroof...I added factory remote start, fog lights, navigation, oem 20" wheels, power fold signal mirrors, autodim rear view mirror and a backup camera for about 1500 bucks. For 35 grand(at the time) I had a vehicle that would have cost me about 50 grand new. 90,000 miles later it's been a great vehicle, it's nearly paid off and I love it. I have all of the options I want.

I bought a '15 Tahoe LT last month. Didn't see advantage of the LTZ for the additional cost. Love it so far.

We have an '09 LTZ. It's been pretty good, but has had some BS problems it shouldn't have. All of the door handles have been replaced, some more that once due to a design flaw. Engine mounts are problematic on the previous generation models too. I just went in for an oil change & ended up spending $500 extra to replace a busted mount. BUT...mine has 130K miles, so I can't complain too much. I suspect they have tended to these issues on the new models. The only buying advice I have for you is check to see if you qualify for the GM Supplier discount through your employer (1% less than dealer invoice).

My husband has a 2015 Tahoe as his company car. I love it, although it took a little while for the new body style to grow on me.

If you are looking at a LTZ you should also look at Yukon with a SLT trim right under the Denali.

I just picked up a 2015 Tahoe LTZ as a rental. Body is weird, inside is awesome. Only comment I have on the short distance I've driven it is the gas pedal is really stiff.

If you're paying cash and can afford to push it off in the river if it sucks, buy the 2015.
