Posted by Enfuego After watching that chilling video, I understand why America has tried to be the world police.

The other 59 minutes aren't really that bad, but I don't think the entire video is that bad so TIFWIW. It is just like the car chases, 15 minutes of IEDs, a roadblock where they pulled out two people and executed them, some sniper stuff, and them saying "Allah akbar" the entire rest of the movie. I mean......they don't go five seconds without saying it.

Yep, need only look to the multitude of ethnic cleansing massacres in Africa.

Nope. The poverty and lack of opportunity in other nations is staggering. Making 16k puts you in the top 10% in the world of wealth. Factor in the safety nets and widens the
gap.
gap.

I think the bigger problem is that most of America thinks the entire rest of the world is as bad or worse than Iraq.

I don't form my world view from gore sites. I've been a whole lot of places. 95% of the world doesn't want to hurt you.

Same here. In general people are friendly and take you as you are, and are respectful. Ironically, a lot of places that many Americans think of as shitholes, think we are the ones that have it bad, that USA is the country with serious issues. They are usually more up to date with our politics that the average US citizen.

Most Americans are stupid and do not understand most things about the real world

If you take the situation about the 50 people stripping/burning a guy, then you will understand what I am getting at. If it is such a nice place, wouldn't it be only two or three people doing the same?

Norco's blog (blog de norco translated to English)
Opened my eyes years ago. When I was younger I thought the movies just took extreme events and used them so casually that it appeared it happened all the time. shite does happen all the time.

The world is a messed up place.
That said, this isn't really common protocol very many places.

Americans are so dumb that they don't understand the pity that others feel for us and our absurd lives centered around corporate monopolization of time.
It's easy to see why. Go to SE Asia, you will meet people from all over the world, but few Americans. Too far, too unsafe, and you need too many shots. For Christ sake there is a Malaria zone five hundred miles away!

No, and in the current incidents happening in Iraq right now, I'd say most of us don't stop to realize that we help to facilitate it at times. Like with Vietnam, like with Iraq, if you're going to do it, then see it through all the way. If you're not prepared to go all the way, then don't do it at all.

didnt we have a civil war? wasnt that long ago that black people were being lynched in the united states.
You are a perfect example of what I said earlier, people dismiss what goes on here because they dont get to see a video of it. seemingly every other week some nutjob is shooting up groups of people. But "Americans dont understand how bad the rest of the world is" because they watched a video of a country in the midst of a decade of war and now a civil war.

No.
Sad, really. It's one thing to not truly feel the impact because you're not near it, but it's something entirely different to be clueless. I'm no expert in current events, but I think it's important to stay informed.
Lots of my friends/loved ones don't know what's going on in BR much less what is going on around the world.
