Players leaving early.

Why do players, who, more than likely won't be drafted or certainly aren't early rounders, continue to leave early. Is it money, bad advice, family? They would surely improve their draft stock with an additional year of college play.

I don't think this question has ever been asked before.
We get it. Freak didn't get drafted. There weren't many people out there that didn't think he would get drafted.
The same question was asked 195270985 times when Trai Turner declared. He was a third round draft pick. No one acknowledged that that was the right decision.

How many players have we had leave early that didn't get drafted besides Faulk and Freak?
And Freak didn't fit into the category of "likely won't be drafted".

The failed drug test screwed Freak out of getting drafted.

Johnson was a Day 3 pick at best before the drug test.

yes, yes it is.
and money would make 99.9% of us leave early too.

Every year after the draft this thread rears it's ugly head on this board.

Making a NFL roster nets you about $400K/$500K a year. Not bad for a backup NFL player. The new NFL draft rules slots every pick, the money is already set. Players just want to get into the NFL, make a team, and earn a living. It's tough risking an injury to come back for one more year. Clowney was no more interested in playing last year for USC than flying to the moon because he knew he should have been earning a paycheck rather than risking injury. You think Tahj Boyd regrets going back now, he was a potential 1st pick last year

Gotta understand also, college isn't for everyone. Tons of people leave college early to go get a job. Freak must not have liked the school aspect and thought he could get a job without another year. It happens.

They're doing what they think is best for them or their family. They have no obligation to play college ball or to please you.

Add Matt Barkley and Marquise Lee to that list.

This is why I don't follow recruiting to a t like most people on here. Sure these kids commit to play at a school, but in all likelihood their main focus is getting to the NFL which entails, leaving early. It's good to see them play for 2 years, but I don't put much stock into it these days.

Now Freak has a hard time st landing a job and no Degree vs 1st round in 1 more year.
These guys leaving as non first rounders has to stop.
Turner was a potential first rounder with 1 more year. Could have doubled his salary.

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
Why do you think Freak would be a first rounder after going in drafted this year? That's a huge leap.
People didn't think turner would even be drafted when he declared. He went in the third. How many college guards were drafted in the top 2 rounds?
People need to detach from the notion that another year in college automatically equates to being drafted higher. There just isn't any way to know.

What makes you think Anthony Johnson would've been a 1st round pick? You must be smoking the same stuff he was.
