LoL, I love Knoxville and will probably retire up around there somewhere if my wife gets her way, but my arse was going to Vandy if I actually had the option.

UCF?
If i'm not mistaken, it's the 2nd largest school in the nation, so it seems pretty desirable.

This shouldn't shock anybody. At all. Also note that Wash U in St. Louis had more applications than either Mizzou or Missouri State and Northwestern had more than Illinois. Both Wash U and Northwestern have well below 10,000 undergraduates. Mizzou has 27,000 and Illinois 32,000. That clearly isn't indicative of how many applications are received.

The only real surprise on here is Marquette. It's not as good a school as Wisky and Madison is widely considered one of the best places to go to school in the nation.

Tulane is THE destination for wealthy northeast kids who can't make it into the ivy league and don't want to slum it at a state school.

I think this is an error by the website. I saw the same exact schools used in the "Why small schools matter" poll.

Guess that I'm a little surprised by North Carolina. I would have figured that Chapel Hill would have received the most apps, if that was the measuring criteria.

Most of the other states I got, even Cali. UCLA is a great school and living in Westwood is an easy sell.

Tulane? What am I missing here? Over 30,000 applications. More then University of Arizona and almost as much as Texas.

Tulane's aggressive marketing and free application. They send a lot of emails to people. I applied to Tulane without any intention of going there just because I wanted to see the response. It might be the most "prestigious" school with a free application, so people just apply out of curiosity.

Didn't know this. I guess every High School Senior in New Orleans can apply.

Yip, not only is it free, they don't require a lot of information. If I recall from 08 and if it's still the same, they don't require any letters of rec or essays. Genius marketing strategy.

LSU Undergrad (for free - with TOPS) > Tulane Undergrad($40,000/year with TOPS)

No one from Louisiana pays even close to $40k. They're either there on a legislative scholarship, academic, or athletic scholarship. Only the retarded rich in LA with Ivy League rejects go to Tulane and pay sticker price.
