What is intelligence to you?

Visited a buddy this weekend and it got me thinking. He goes to a good school, has better grades than I did in a much tougher major. But at one point,I asked him to describe the building to me to prove a point.
He couldn't do it. The most he could get out of it was "it's a building." I asked him to be more specific but he never did. It made me think a fair amount since then.
What is intelligence. It's defined as the ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills. But I think that definition is leaving something out. It's leaving out. Something about the ability of man to create or originate. Or the ability to solve complicated problems correctly as they arise without necessarily being able to take the time to study the problems for the right answers.
tl:dr how would you personally define intelligence?

Ability to hold a conversation on a variety of topics without coming off as a dumbass.

Certainly not this paragraph.

What building are you talking about?

Were y'all smoking some shite when this conversation took place?

There's different types of intelligence brah. Some guys are dumber than a sack of rocks but can figure out a way to fix damn near anything. Some people couldn't use a screwdriver but can solve abstract problems like nobody's business. Some people aren't good at much of anything but are amazing musicians. Etc, etc. All are types of intelligence and all have their place.

To me intelligence is very hard to quantify. Most of our popular means of measuring intelligence are only slightly efficient.
I know a lot of people who have good grades at good schools, but overall they are still fairly dumb and immature. I've also known people that dropped out of school that were extremely smart in their own ways. IMO there are at least several different types of intelligence.

That thing that I have more of than most.

It only matters if he doesn't know what a hose-pipe is.

So you are trying to convince yourself and us that you are more intelligent than your buddy who has better grades in a tougher major than you because he couldn't "describe a building?"
envy is a sign of a lack of intelligence.

Critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Knowing lots of facts doesnt make you smart, it makes you educated. Just about anyone can become educated if they try, not everyone can be intelligent.

What is intelligence.
Intelligence is the ability to learn. That includes the ability to learn academic information, the ability to learn from mistakes, and common sense plays a role too.
There isn't one aspect of intelligence, but just because you know a lot, doesn't make you intelligent.

Yep, you're born with it or you aren't.
Just in general, I find people that are great with academic information are low on common sense and the reverse is true as well. There are some pretty balanced individuals though. Generally like with testing skills in the classroom, the people that have a good balance of academic skills and common sense do the best.
