What's your definition of an alcoholic?

Someone who gets drunk every night (or 4-5 times a week)?
Someone who can't drink just 2-3 drinks? Must get blasted every time?
Someone who gets drunk alone?
Someone with 1 or more DUIs?
Any other definitions?

You're only an alcoholic if your life sucks.

All of the above. Plus people who drink before noon regularly. Breakfast beer = alcoholic.

Ever lost a gf/wife, house, vehicle, job from the amount or times you were drinking? Did you change/fix it after identifying it?
If not, I think you are an alcoholic.
That's just my unscientific definition.

It has less to do with frequency and more to do with an addictive predisposition for "needing" alcohol.

Someone who is thinking about drinking all the time, even when they're sober. He/she may talk about it a lot or not, but regular activities revolve around drinking. For example, they might cancel plans once they find out no alcohol is there, even if it's not something where alcohol would normally be.

According to the experts, an alcoholic is someone who drinks like a beer every couple days, and binge drinking is having two drinks in the same weekend.
