Did you really type that with a straight face? Cops searching for their holy grail of drugs don't miss shite let alone a fricking handgun. Nor is some guy with a misdemeanor filled record going to pull a gun out in a cop car.

Apparently your knowledge about how easy it is to miss something like this is limited. There are several videos on youtube where cops miss guns on people. It's not uncommon and usually is becuase the cop just does a poor job searching people. They find 1 thing on the suspect and stop searching for additional evidence. There's one video where a suspect pulls out a gun in the interogation room and sucks on the end of the barrell. Without the video, no one would have believed it was possible.

Given that this would be the worst coverup in all history, I'll hold off on judgment of the police.

Failure to properly search incident to arrest, for starters.
Failure to double stack handcuffs, I'm also guessing.
For those saying "why would he shoot himself?" I would bet he wasn't, he merely had an accidental discharge when trying to pull the gun out in the car. Whether he was trying to shoot an officer (it happens) or trying to ditch a gun prior to introducing it into a correctional facility - a felony (more likely, IMO. That is a felony here in FL as I'm sure it is in LA). If he was improperly cuffed, he may have thought he would've been able to successfully manipulate the weapon.
This looks like poor procedure, not conspiracy. But I'm sure that doesn't fit the coming "activists" agenda.

Maybe the cops missed the gun in the search and the suspect knew once he was brought in jail it would be found and was gonna try and ditch it in the back seat. Being handcuffed he had a hard time handling the gun and it went off killing him rather than a suicide type scenario

I've seen the vid you are talking about and I don't care.
The odds of that happening are so astronomical that it isn't a very believable defense regardless of the fact that perps have done it before.
I mean is is possible for a man's dick to accidentally fall out in front of a woman who is on her knees just as his wife walked into the room? Sure. But you want to me believe that story you better have video evidence to back that up b/c the odds are it's a straight up lie.

You telling Scruffy that these guys searched him and found drugs, but they missed a gun in this guy's waistband?

Maybe the cops missed the gun in the search

Where does it say they searched him and found narcotics? He could have been walking down the street smoking a blunt.

Hmmm, let me guess how things will turn out:
1. Evidence will be "lost".
2. Reports will be falsified.
3. No arrests made.
4. Suspension with pay.
Sounds about right

Who says they searched him. Maybe they rolled up on him smoking a blunt, cuffed him and asked 'Got anything else on ya?" he says no that he only had that. Complacency, distraction, stupidity, laziness, etc they dont do a good search (he's cuffed behind his back, he is harmless now) and they transport him to jail
I know many of you cant be objective when it comes to police so I wont kid myself by thinking you can see that police make mistakes and its not all a conspiracy by blood thirst thugs in blue
ETA: Its my opinion that this suspect had a gun and made a dumb decision with it. A decision that cost him his life.

does scruffy have a new iberia haircut?

That sheriff's department is as dirty as it gets, maybe I'd buy it from another LEA, not this one.

Scruffy does not. He shaves his head.

But found a few ounces of drugs?
Every one of these threads talks about the overarching procedures cops go through for "officer safety" and they miss a gun?
