Hit the ground running - Jason Jennings
What go you here won't get you there- Marshall Goldsmith
Talent Isn't Everything (personal favorite) - Geoff Goldman
Jim Collins is solid too- "How the Mighty Fall" and "Good to Great"
And if you are or plan to be managing people:
Carrot Principle
5 Dysfunctions of a Team

There is a little fluff in there that was tedious to read at times
This was the hardest part for me. Rarely does a book go without the fluff, but Robert's ventured away from simplicity. Robert offers excellent advice within each chapter, yet he can lose the reader at times when it is avoidable. As for the OP, this book does go directly under the 'Self Development' category. I think that it should certainly be considered when deciding which book to go with. ILB sums up the message of The 50th Law

21 Irrefutable laws of leadership
Entre-leadership
7 habits of highly effective people
A good article that I read a while back was by a guy named Thomas Corley. He posted the daily habits of the wealthy vs poor.

The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson
Read this one first. As others have said, it is mindset no magic formula.

I like all of Zig Zieglers stuff, especially 'See you at the top.'
Also, Athony Robbins book 'Awaken the Giant Within'
Steve Covey's '7 Habits'

Consider this another vote for Seven Habits. I first read it in a college class and I've read it five times over the last 15 years. Every time I learn new things about myself.
I am currently about half-way through 21 Laws. It is an excellent book.
How To Win Friends and Influence People is a classic as well. I'd probably start there, then read Seven Habis, and then move into the leadership books.

7 Habits of Highly... - Covey
Good to Great - Jim Collins
I have several others on this list and they are currently in my queue.
I'd recommend How Full is Your Bucket? by Tom Rath to everyone. It takes about 4 hours to read and is a simple concept, but was one of my favorite reads.

Can the MT recommend any? I'd ask the OT, but, yea.
Something preferably more than, 'believe in yourself' and 'get 8 hours of sleep'.
The OT and the NT. Best to take advice in the form of "...do NOT do THIS" like the commandments (Lex Talionis - eye for eye) or the NT, golden rule, "...do unto others as you would do unto yourself".
Self help books are garbage because they usually offer advice in the form of "....do THIS, to be happy", or "...take these steps to be successful financially". And these books are written by 'experts' (usually in their own minds), who may or may not take their own advice.

I read The Millionaire Next Door and currently reading The Millionaire Mind by the same author and finding it much more informative than Next Door.

audible, owned by amazon, is offering 2 free audiobooks for anyone signing up for a 30 day membership. anyone with a long commute like me that gets sick of listening to music/sports radio, not a bad deal.

Also, check out Daniel Murphy. He puts out a blog and suggests a book every month to read with a description. Might find it useful.

This.
I've listened to 60+ audiobooks from Audible in the last 2-3 years. I travel a lot and listening to a book while flying is great for me. Its a monthly subscription so it motivates me to always buy new books since I've committed to pay for it.
